TV Show /Episode identification...

IIRC, this was a PBS and/or NOVA episode, either way it was on PBS, where they showcased a California man who was a blacksmith/metalsmith. His showcased works included a holy water basin made from metal provided by church members, the doors to his “city” were made from aluminum and metal collected via roadside --which was melted down, etc-- and large pieces made at a foundry in Chicago.

I’ve searched relentlessly and I’m hoping someone here remembers better than me.

Thanks!

Any chance of narrowing down the date a bit?

You didn’t mention if the show had a host. If it was in California, then there’s a possibility it was Huell Howser’s “California Gold.” Here’s an episode guide:

This probably isn’t what you’re looking for, but the first thing that comes to mind is Nitt Witt Ridge in Cambria. It’s featured on California’s Gold #4011.

Ok, I asked on many forums, his name is Tom Joyce and he made a baptismal font which has the multiple pieces of metal. Bad-ass artist and I would love to apprentice under him. Dreams, dreams, dreams!!!
