*Dark Shadows *
Full disclosure: WKRP was not from my childhood. But I did like it and still like the reruns.
One that was from my childhood that l bought the complete boxed set of recently is Have Gun Will Travel. The stories have held up extremely well. Yeah, they are of their time. Richard Boone was one of those guys who was not at all conventionally handsome but was very attractive.
Every year, the wife, kids and in-laws grill me on what I want for Christmas. And I usually fall back on gift cards. But thanks to this thread, I now have a real answer! I’m going to ask for DVDs:
The Dick Van Dyke Show
Man from U.N.C.L.E.
Wild Wild West
Kung Fu
Get Smart
Twilight Zone
Superman
(the TV Show, with George Reeves)
Hmmm, I wonder if they can find Underdog or Rocky and Bullwinkle.
Or can afford Coronet Blue…
Pompel & Pilt! I used to watch reruns as a kid. It got taken off air after only five (?) episodes by demand of furious mothers whose children had been scared to death. Iv’e met plenty of adults who’ll shudder at the name of the show just being mentioned. Somehow it always manage to run as reruns year after year.
The 1966 Batman TV show starring Adam West and Burt Ward.
on Amazon, yes, but it looks like you need a CBS All Access subscription. ![]()

Not really from my childhood (it was in reruns then) but one of the secondary channels is showing Dennis the Menace episodes. Poor Mr. Wilson! What I didn’t remember from back then is the right thing always happens, even if it makes Mr. Wilson lose face or some money. The plot twists are quite inventive, at least for the day.
My dad wrote for that show.

That’s about $4 per month. It’s worth it to me because I watch (confession time!) NCIS and Blue Bloods and without cable I can’t get CBS OTA.
Winky Dink and You. Still got my magic window and crayons. These days I draw Winky anatomically correct.
OMG. I remember Winky Dink.
What about Beany and Cecil the Seasick Sea Serpent?
Wonder Woman. Although I can can skip the episodes and watch this clip for the same effect.
Loved Beany & Cecil; Courageous Cat & Minute Mouse (great theme song) and Woody Woodpecker, too.
Yeah, that’ll be late childhood. It still looks great - and here’s how I know: one of the French TV networks is rerunning it at the moment, so we were watching it on holiday. And the title in French is: Chapeau melon et bottes de cuir (“Bowler hat and leather boots”).
Isn’t that great?

What were we talking about again?
I’ve found many of them on YouTube, and those I can’t find there, I Google either the episode titles or, if I don’t know those, a few key words from the plot, and I’ve always been able to find them online. Happy hunting!

Lost In Space is shown on cable Saturday nights. One of the cheapest, stupidest tv shows ever made, it’s still hilarious for the sheer stupidity, and the Dr. Smith and Robot show.
I miss Star Trek TOS on the same cable station. Gone! Voyage To The Bottom of the Sea is still on.
Oh, the earliest anime, ‘Astro Boy’ - eerie sepia-tinged oddity from Japan, way back in the 60’s - I was mesmerized at first sight. Got up 6 a.m. Saturday mornings to watch. I can still remember and sing the theme song!
