I loved that show!
But then, I loved The Flying Nun.

But then, I loved The Flying Nun.
Anyone remember Profit? It was a fucking awesome show which ran for about 7 episodes back in the '90s, and was abruptly cancelled halfway through its run with absolutely zero concern for the viewers who’d gotten hooked. According to Wiki, it was cancelled for being “Ahead of its time” in featuring an amoral central character. Really. Well heaven forfend. Of course, now we have Dexter, The Shield, and Breaking Bad. Stupid chickenshit TV executives…really know how to ruin a good thing, don’t they?
Don’t talk smack on Sister Bertrille.
I loved that show! I have a crush on poor Jack Cassidy, and a girl-crush on the great Paula Prentiss, who should have been the Carole Lombard of the 1960s/70s.
Anyone remember It’s a Man’s World ? Apparently it only lasted 19 episodes, but as an 11 year old kid I loved the show. At the time I thought it would be way cool to live on a houseboat!
Between the two leads, Rod Taylor and Dennis Cole, I’m guessing you had a crush on Dennis Cole.
Richard Boone rules. Dennis Weaver drools.
Have gas laser chromatography kit, will travel.
In its way, Hec Ramsey was a primordial version of CSI.

Mel Brooks’ Robin Hood TV show “When Things Were Rotten”. I found only 2 clips online, and one was just the opening credits. It was only released on VHS, but I’m surprised nobody uploaded any more.
Prentiss and Benjamin celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last year. Time do fly.
Good show!
But then, I enjoyed Mr. T & Tina.
Y-y-y-y-yeah!
I also thought that Bah-RISS-co may have gotten some inspiration from it. At least the feel of “things, they be a-changin.”
Another fondly remembered one: Wizards and Warriors, the D&D spoof starring Jeff Conaway. I recall it being hysterical but I was a 15-year-old boy into D&D at the time so I may not have been a typical viewer. Lasted half a season.
Two series from the early 90s come to mind:
Woops! a sitcom about life after the apocalypse, where only six people are left alive. Hilarity ensues.
Herman’s Head – wow, this actually lasted three seasons. Herman is your standard everyday schlub – the gimmick is he has competing aspects of his personality (sensitivity, anxiety, etc.) that you get to see dramatized by actors who live in his head.
“Volvo.”
The first time I was ever bummed out by the cancellation of a tv series. It was so much better than the movie.
I had no idea that they made five Alien Nation tv movies between 1994 and 1997.
Got one I remembered today: a western from 1985 called Wildside. One thing I didn’t remember: Meg Ryan had a recurring role. Only aired for 6 episodes, but I loved it.
Yeah. Some of them were okay, but they never really recaptured the magic of the series.
“Buck, how many times must I tell you: Don’t drink the bile directly from the carton – get a glass!”
