From the makers of FILMS You’re Not Ashamed to Admit You Like[sup]TM[/sup] and BOOKS You’re Not Ashamed to Admit You Like[sup]TM[/sup] comes TV SHOWS You’re Not Ashamed to Admit You Like[sup]TM[/sup].
Me, I can’t enough classic, cheesy sci-fi shows like Ray Bradbury Theatre, Tales from the Darkside, Night Gallery and Amazing Stories.
If Wonder Woman ever comes on TV Land, I’m all over it, baby.
I don’t think I watch any current shows I’m ashamed of but if, when presenting your list, you name one, I’ll post that I, too, like that show in all it’s poorly-written and badly-acted glory.
I haven’t watched Tales From The Darkside in years, but there was a time when I had the entire opening monologue memorized. I think I could still repeat along with it, but I can’t pull it up from the dregs alone.
I also love that old show Friday the 13th, The Series. I’d still watch it if it was being aired anywhere.
I also love Xena: Warrior Princess. In fact if the damn dvds weren’t so much, I’d own season 1 and 2 by now. I watch it on reruns whenever I have a chance. I do like Hercules, but not as much as Xena.
It’s been years since I watched an episode of Wonder Woman, but I loved it and would be right there with you watching if they brought it back anywhere.
Despite it being trashed as one of the worst shows ever, I love Star Trek: Enterprise. I’ll also readily admit to having watched most all of Star Trek: Voyager.
Aside from those, I like Joan of Arcadia despite not being in its demographic and I also watch Friends any time it’s on.
If Saved by the Bell were still on, I’d watch it too. Mm. Tifanny Thiessen.
Oh, there’s so many. NBC’s “Passions” and even though they are children’s cartoons, “Yu-Gi-Oh”, “Shaman King”, and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”. I can’t stand this show, but I watch it anyway: “Andromeda”. It’s like, everything that’s wrong with sci-fi. Except for Kevin Sorbo. Nothin’ wrong with him.
I love Dawson’s Creek and am not afraid to say it! Currently, I really like Wonderfalls even though every critic I’ve read who had something to say about it has said that it’s inevitably going to be canceled, and even though nobody I know IRL has heard of it yet.
Eh, Kevin Sorbo doesn’t really do it for me. He looks too much like an ex boyfriend (only way more buff). I had a crush on Michael Hurst when I watched Hercules, and I watched Andromeda for Keith Hamilton Cobb# (mmmmmm, Tyr). I stopped watching because I was never home on the weekends after the second year.
Did they ever explain Trance?
*Fell in lust with him while watching All My Children. Which is a show that belongs in this category. That soap is about a month older than me and, as my mother and both grandmothers watched from the beginning, I’ve grown up watching.
I love Dawson’s Creek too. I sobbed during the season finale.
Wonderfalls is incredible, and it has a (small) fan base here on the Dope. The reason why people (including critics) keep saying it’s going to be canceled is because it’s on Fox and they aren’t known for giving good shows a fair chance [sub]Firefly[/sub]. Instead they constantly yank it around to different (bad) time slots and don’t advertise.
I too like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the new series is so great. I really get into the shows on the N (the channel that’s Noggin by day for prechoolers and then becomes the N at night for teenagers) I may be 20 years old, but I like Degrassi Junior High and Radio Free Rosco. I sometimes get sucked in by Blind Date and Elimidate for some people watching and a self-esteem boost.
I watch the WWE, and I’m not ashamed. Raw on Monday night, Smackdown on Thursday, and especially Velocity on Saturday, to see the little guys and hope they get a push. I follow the pro wrestling industry, and often the backstage stuff, the politics and the real-life conflicts, and that is often more interesting that what’s on TV. But I second-guess everything they do, and I’d love a shot as a writer, because I know what people have potential, what people the crowds would love if they were only given a chance to shine, and what people are dead weight and past their prime, and need to get off our TV, stat. I love pro wrestling, even though it is frustrating to be a smark (a smart fan who really knows what’s going on).
Ray Bradbury Theatre, Tales from the Darkside, Night Gallery, Amazing Stories, Friday the 13th.
Why would anyone be ashamed to like these shows? They’re good!
Now, I’ve started watching stuff with the kids, and was surprised to find out that I like some of their shows. I like Spongebob Squarepants and Fairly Oddparents. I’ve also recently begun to watch The Amanda Show. Hey! At least I only do it when the kids are around!
Put me on the list of people who cried like babies for the Dawson finale. I’m also willing to admit I’m a die-hard Smallville fan, and you can have my Superman when you pry my remote control from my cold, dead hands. I’ve also become a fan of Wonderfalls, and Tru Calling. I can’t channel-surf past an episode of MASH, and Wonder Woman or The Dukes of Hazzard will leave me motionless on the couch.
Every now and then, I find an episode of Growing Pains on some basic cable channel. Gods help me, I can’t not watch it.
And I was one of the four people that actually watched Tarzan last year. That is my ultimate shame … but hey, Tarzan was hot.
I’m not ashamed to admit I love bad sitcoms, Mama’s Family being my fave. I also love Green Acres, Mary Tyler Moore, Dick Van Dyke, Taxi, and anything they run on TVLand.
I also love Days of Our Lives, but I only watch it during my workouts so it’s ok.
And here I thought I was the only one that watched that. I wonder who the other two people were? Yes, Tarzan was hot and Mitch Pileggi isn’t so bad himself, plus as a Xena fan, I had to watch to support Lucy Lawless.
I’m also a Tru Calling fan, though I think they are still dumbing down the show too much.
I would not be ashamed to watch a GOOD TV show… there are just so few.
However…

[li]You can count me in on Enterprise. It may be the worst of Trek, but that’s better than a lot of stuff out there.[/li][li]Lexx. It’s so over-the-top, the parody is good sometimes. The eye candy aspect is good, as well.[/li][li]Space:1999. For the nostalgic cheese flavor. Besides, the scariest monster I ever saw was the tentacle monster in the spaceship graveyard.[/li][/ul]
When I was out of work this summer (post-surgery complications), I got hooked on The Creek on TBS. I was surprised when I sobbed (and I mean sobbed) during the finale. Poor, poor Jen!
I had also jumped on the Felicity bandwagon when WE started with the reruns a couple of years ago. When it was on the WB, my mom raved about it, but I never watched it, but I watched the entire series on WE and became so engrossed. She should have ended up with Noel at the end, dammit!! God, maybe I should be ashamed!
