I don’t have cable, so I rarely see the Home Shopping Network, but a few weeks back at a friend’s house I saw a spot for a driveway sweeper thing that would pick up pinecones, leaves, etc. Anyone know what the thing is called? My googling and ebay searching is not paying off!
And more importantly, does anyone here have one and how well does it work? It seemed easy to use, and my elderly mom needs something that doesn’t require a lot of effort.
Sounds like a good product according to the reviews on amazon.com. I would think it would be the same as a vet/dry vac, the later with the advantage of picking up wet debris.
Our driveway doesn’t seem to sweep well with a regular broom. I don’t know if it’s the plastic bristles on the broom or the rough texture of the concrete, but sweeping takes too much effort. We have a big old oak tree that drops plenty of twigs, acorns and leaves, as well as the grass clippings after I mow the yard. We do the broom and dustpan thing a lot, but it just takes forever. And we have the neighbor from hell who spends hours picking up the twigs and leaves that fall on her driveway three feet over…I swear she cannot sleep at night if she knows there is a leaf on her driveway…so ours always looks messy by comparison. I hate having to sweep the same leaf over and over to get it to move three inches, and my mom just can’t do it anymore.
So before I invest in this Spin Sweeper, I’d love to hear first hand how it works. There are two up on ebay right now, and they both have been “used once or twice”. That doesn’t bode well for it being a great sweeper.
Get a black and decker battery powered blower. You can pick them up for about 50 bucks, they’re like a mini leaf-blower, and that’s what I use to clean my driveway.
I’ve got a leaf blower, which is fine for me to use. But Mom can’t lift that thing and hold it up for more than 10 seconds. Plus I tend to have so much fun blowing things around that I dawdle too much, playing around. Neighbor from hell uses hers to blow the leaves back into our half of the strip of grass between the driveways…she’s out there sometimes until 10pm backing sure every leaf goes back on our side. Last year I even took pictures of the strip of grass because I thought no leaves were falling on her side of the string (long Story). Turned out she was up late and out early to remove them.
The battery powered leaf blowers are pretty light, much lighter than a gas or even electric one. I suggest you try one out at the store for heft. My 2 year old daughter can lift it, so I am sure your momma can do it
Oh, okay, I’ll out myself. I shop at HSN and QVC regularly. I watch the shows and then I order online. Since you’ve got internet access, you can go to www.hsn.com or www.qvc.com. The websites are shopper friendly and you can find your sweeper pretty fast. I hope I haven’t lowered myself in your eyes?
