TV villains you liked

I don’t mean reprobates like Alexis Carrington or J. R. Ewing. I mean goofy antagonists like Winchester (MAS*H), Eddie Haskell (Leave It to Beaver), Siegfried (Get Smart), Maris (Frasier), and so on. The “villain” was more of an incompetent nuisance–like Inspector Fix was to Phileas Fogg in Around the World in 80 Days–than an enemy to be feared.
Post your Fix/Eddie Haskell/Siegfried TV “villains” here.

It has to be Colonel Klink or General Burkholter. KLLLLEEEENK! HOOOOGAN!

How about Mimi on Drew Carey…or Newman. You know… Nnnnneewwwwwwwman.

Q

Now that I think of it, my faves all have a distinctly drag queeny air to them—

Endora from “Bewitched”
Dr. Smith from “Lost in Space”
Natasha Fatale from “Rocky & Bullwinkle”
Mrs. Drysdale from “The Beverly Hillbillies”

What’s wrong with a villain with a dollop of nasty?

I hated batman as a tot (I didn’t understand it was supposed to be campy until I saw the original 1960’s movie that preceded the original series) but I certainly have to say that even as a preschooler, I thouth Catwoman, a leather clad babe, whose fondest hope seemed to be to get Batman in the sack, was the kind of villain we could use more of. [Others must have agreed - they brought in Yvonne Craig as Batgirl in the same leather suit]

Oh, and how can I forget my current favorite?

Mary Cherry from “Popular!”

Who was that cowardly one in ‘Land of the Giants’?

I liked several of the villains in ‘The Prisoner’ they were all called Two.

Boss Hog, Cleetus, and Weenus in ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’

I personally always empathized with Chief Inspector Dreyfus (played by Herbert Lom), the superior of bumbling inspector Jacques Clouseau. If I was Jacques Clouseau’s boss, I would want to kill him too.

Magica, The Spell - Disney’s Duck Tales.

Major Hochstader from Hogan’s Heroes: “Vee have vays of making you talk.”

“The Master”, from Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

The female Romulan Commander from Star Trek (the original series)

Luthur, from “Homicide: Life on the Street”

There can only be one…

Mr. Roper

i second that Q.

and might i add cancer man, or the CSM.

that late 70’s early 80’s villain, a regular on CHips, Battlestar Gallactica, Buck Rogers…etc…the guy with really bad skin, who kinda looked like Abe Lincoln…in fact he played Abe Lincoln, and of course an evil Abe Lincoln on other TV shows.

I would also like to introduce myself…I’ve been a lurker, I frequented a more PG message board, but damn if I didn’t get hit by lighting, now I’m ready to come outta my shell…

MASH - Colonel Flag, hands down!
Plus many villains from Batman, of course. Riddler, Penguin, Egghead (god, how I miss Vincent Price!)

Got to second the vote for Cigarette Smoking Man. Also, Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Oh, and either Rocket Romano or Carrie Weaver from ER.

All the Buffy villains (The Master, Spike and Drusilla, Angelus, The Mayor, Adam - wow, 5 seasons…) are great.

My vote, out of all of them, though, has to go to The Mayor of Sunnydale. (Don’t ask why I keep capitalizing ‘the’…it just doesn’t look right lowercase…) Gotta love a mass murderer that’s concerned for your health.

Hi, Ponch! Welcome to the asylum. (Uh, is that Ponch, like Erik Estrada in ChiPS?)

I’m partial to the dwarf (midget?), Michael Somebody, who played the over-the-top arch-villain. The premise and cast were high camp, but the evil Dr. Whomever was the standout.

I was always quite fond of the extremely grumpy dog with serious underbite in Tom and Jerry (wasn’t ‘Bonzo’, but…). Looked kind of like Winston Churchill with a hangover.

A close second was Dick Dasterly in ‘Wacky Races’. Even now, Mutley’s laugh makes me smile.

Third, I saw some reruns of an old black and white American show called, I think, ‘Hogan’s Hero’s’ which had some wonderfully incompetent German POW camp guards. Maybe the officer even had a catch-phrase ??

As an aside, we have the theatrical Chrisman tradition of Pantomime which always has goodies and incompetent baddies. Like cartoons, it’s supposed to be for kids but ….”Oh no it isn’t” “Oh yes it is” “Oh no it isn’t”…you have to be there. Great fun.

I believe that you are refering to ‘Spike’. The little bulldog was ‘Spike Jr.’

Yes, Muttley’s snigger was always great.

“HOOOOOGGGGAAAAANNNN!!!”
Of course, Shultz had the best quote (He knew what was going on…he also knew better than to admit it, he liked living.) “I zeee NOTHING!!”

Number 2.
Of course, there is the great evil that is…Bester. Walter Keonig(sp?) managed to really break mold there. Bester was sly, evil and utterly cool.
