TVAA banned. Anyone know why?

It’s probably also worth noting that TVAA was speaking, er, ranting in defence of “admitted serial killer Gary Sampson,” who TVAA saw as being a victim of abuse (ironic, really).

Is there an echo in here?

Looked like a classic “Suicide By Mod” to me. Still, with each Banning our mission becomes a little easier. Still, as a few posts here have shown, there remains much to be done.

Fucking bastard hampsters!!!

To summarise a previously brilliant and erradite post (thus making it a bit shit):

It never occured to me that TVAA was a troll. He / she always seemed genuine in his beliefs. For what it’s worth, it seems to me (as a lurker) that his abrasive style often overshadowed what he had to say; and he often had a perspective based on genuine knowledge.

Was he a jerk? Yes, probably. But I actually enjoyed his posts and will miss his input.

I can understand how / why he got people’s backs-up - but I feel the vitriol from some posters was over-the-top. Does the poster make the message?

Just my ill-conceived 0.2c

Miind yoo, a fuckwit bite caan be quite naasti.

So, I’ve been around here for awhile, and I’ve seen several instances of what appears to be this “go-down-in-flames” approach.

Why do people do that?

Isn’t that 20 cents?

World Eater quoth: ‘Isn’t that 20 cents?’

Probably - I’m English; what the hell am I going to know about your comedy foreign money? :smack:

Should have gone for Her Brittanic Majesty’s pence … Gawd save the Queen:D

I feel the same way about Satan and Coll. Won’t miss TVAA, though.

<Izzard>That’s one Saved Fuckin’ Queen. It ought to be God Attack the Queen…</izzard>

I have nothing substantive to add to this thread.

The phrase is: That’s my two cents. Twenty cents is too much. And .2 cent is 20% of a cent, which is too little. Two cents would have done just nicely.

Wow. I just read Tanookie’s thread.
Very, VERY little makes me mad on this board. TVAA’s postings just really pissed me off. What a fucking waste of skin.

Good riddance, you piece of shit.

Several theories:

  1. Inability to admited they are wrong or screwed up. They keep fighting the same fight even after being told to knock it off. They know they are right and MUST keep fighting.

  2. The garden-variety Attention Whore who keeps posting ever more jerkish material in an effort to keep the spot-light on them.

  3. “True Believers” here to witness for their far-right, far-left or just plain crazy beliefs. When questioned on these beliefs, they lose it and attack anyone who questioned them or told them to tone it down. Often related to #5 below.

  4. Not as clever as they thought. Some people have overly high opinions of themselves, and therefore seem to think that the rules do not apply to them- as they are such valuable assets to the community. They find out life goes on just fine without them.

and finally;

  1. The Martyrs. Certain posters become convinced they are being persecuted here because of their beliefs (rather then their jerkish behavior) and rather then accept personal responsibility for their past behavior, they set out to antagonize the Mods and any long time posters they see as emblematic of the vast liberal / conservative / American / European / Illuminati conspiracy against them. These posters doggedly rail on about the Nazi Mods, and the percieved Admin bias against them. Finally, they get Banned. Often, a few creepy fan boys types will emerge to lament their passing, as it reflects their own percieved persecution. A few will go on to repeat the pattern themselves, while others just bore us to death with their constant whining about how bad it is here.

Those are my theories, for what they are worth.

elf, that’s about the most comprehensive analysis of the situation I’ve seen. I can’t think of any other categories (namely because #5 dominates the field). Well done.

elf6c, in addition to your list, I think you can add the Naturally Abrasive and the people who just plain Don’t Get It that they are crossing the line, either because they were raised by wolves or they’re just totally tone deaf to the nuances of civilized discourse. I don’t know if TVAA was actually socially disfunctional, but in his missive to Coldfire, he seemed genuinely puzzled that the world wasn’t acknowledging that he was right, or that there was any reason to question the manner in which he phrased his arguments.

I think it may be

I saw this thread and thought “now what set him off”

Then I saw the links. I closed the thread in the hopes that it wouldn’t come to this. I figured he’d pit me and then it would get out of his system. Guess I was wrong.

“Our” mission hardly becomes easier if the “ignorant” fuck off, does it? The mission isn’t irradicating ignorance among the SDMB-membership, else they’d just ban you all and leave me, job done!

Ho-ho.

Isn’t this the guy that refused to accept that he was wrong in some (way over my head) Math Pit thread that went on for something like 10 pages?

(I refuse to search for it, lest it not be locked, someone posts to it, and we have to see it again).

If so, I’d say it is a combination of elf6c’s #1, #4 and #5.

I would like to quote the redoubtable Esprix:

We need a post-banning interview, kind of like games shows. I’m thinking something ala Weakest Link: TVAA exits, camera focuses in… “Wow…yeah, I thought had Coldie there, but Lynn came in and it was all over.”

Except with our luck, it’d be more like WWE, but with real cursing.
