Twickster apparantly doesn't allow posters to defend themseles against threadshitting

Twix did a number two!

David M[a]bus (brackets to avoid summoning him).

Yes, of course! Posting anything a third time on the Internet absolutely proves it!

At best, there were some mild hijacking comments in the way of riffing humor. It doesn’t look like a malicious intent to distract from the topic, but just mild back-and-forthing to keep interest in the thread until an answer could come along.

And generally, no, you’re not allowed to defend your thread from threadshitting. You’re supposed to report the post.

And I would say that Silenus’s post was threadshitting.

Saying the same thing a second time does not magically make you righter, especially not when the person you’re saying it to is actually posting counter-arguments while you’re not.

I’ve always wondered, btw: exactly why is it that “Go fuck yourself” is streng verboten while “Go fuck a cactus” is A-OK?

Nobody’s gonna fuck a cactus. People might try to fuck themselves, though, and that could lead to a rush on ERs right when we may need them for Ebola and stuff.

Valid point. We can’t be too careful.

Best simile of the year!

Phlegm. Sorry.

An echo?

So, what’s it called when someone posts the exact same thing twice? :stuck_out_tongue:

What’s green and skates backwards?

Because Ed made some rules about what strings were not allowed, but the members here don’t really like those rules, so the moderators who live and breath here moderate with the tightest interpretation possible. Since Ed didn’t mention cactuses, it’s allowed.

It’s like censors who get upset at someone saying “bitch” on TV, but don’t worry about “beyotch”. Why can you say the second one? It means the same thing - it is a deliberate attempt to get away with saying the verboten word.

By my count there were 2 ‘joke posts’ out of the 10 replies at the point where etv78 comes in and starts complaining that people aren’t playing by his rules. that’s an 80% ‘on-topic percentage’, which I think is pretty damn good!

And **silenus’ **post came nowhere even remotely close to ‘threadshitting’ territory. If you turn your head and squint real hard, you might be able to call it ‘junior modding’, but even that is a big stretch. I’m all for banning the guy simply for his sporting preferences :D, but he did nothing wrong here.
