I was at the house of a relative today and his daughter had a couple of friends there; watching them frolic around the garden, I was idly thinking what nice-looking young girls they were [sub](insert disclaimer about not being attracted to young females in that way[/sub]. As it happens, the young ladies are identical twins.
It struck me that I have thought similar thoughts before about identical twins of various ages and indeed of either gender, but on observing the features of either twin individually (in the absence of the other) I am unable to objectively determine what I like about their appearance.
Could it bs that some process in my brain (perhaps comparison of a face against an internal ‘ideal’) is being tricked by being presented with (essentially)two copies of the same face for comparison?
Or is it just that identical siblings are unusual and therefore compelling to see, heighteninq the impact of any perception regarding them?

When the Kunilou twins were young, Mrs. Kunilou was a member of the local Mothers of Twins club. Every year they had a big picnic, so I got to see literally hundreds of pairs of twins, many of them identical, frolicing around the park. I can tell you first-hand the attractiveness level was distributed along the same bell curve as with “singletons.”
Of course, the twins you’re refering to are members of your family, therefore you’re predisposed to find that set of features attractive. And young females (young males for that matter) are INHERENTLY cute – they almost have to work to not be cute.
