Twitter, Facebook, Livejournal, and other sites attacked.

Looks like there’s been a bit of a denial of service attack today affecting many popular social networking sites.

It’s slightly amusing, though, seeing a lot of my friends’ Facebook status’ going crazy with frustration.

“Oh no! I can’t do nothing useful on the internet!”

Is there a typo in that sentence, or am I missing something? “users to post”? The rest of the sentence is sad, but less confusing.

Guess I might as well just look at porn, then.

Yes, many of my online friends have had to get work done these last two days. :frowning:

(Assuming that’s also why Journalfen went down for hours yesterday.)

The problem would seem to be that there’s not enough tracking for email. On the one hand, I like to use anonymous free emails when I rant at newspaper editors, and hate the thought they could ever find me. On the other hand it would be nice to keep these spammers at bay.
Perhaps the answer is a universal tax or fee per email sent? Although I suppose that would just let sponsored spammers pursue their agenda.
