The boys being all down with the hood would have been funny if Max and Caroline had slapped them down better, which is a bit odd, because that’s kind of their forté.
There were some funny moments as usual, but forced, awkward, cringe-inducing moments as well, as usual. Constant crude sexual comments gets a bit tired after a while.
I can’t understand how this show has been airing for 4 seasons, has a 5th slated for production, and begins its syndicated run this fall.
Kat Dennings (Max) and Beth Behrs (Caroline) have to be the two worst actresses in history. Did you catch Dennings in “Thor” or “Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist”? She was just as horrible there. Behrs doesn’t have much of a resume, but she’s not that much worse an actress as Dennings.
Aside from the horrible acting, this show is just all around painful to watch…the stereotypical characters, the sexual innuendo, the punch lines Dennings can’t seem to deliver with a shred of comedic talent, it’s just disgusting.
Presumably the ratings on this show justify its continued existence. But it is painfully unfunny. I watch a genuinely good sitcom like Frasier or Seinfeld and wonder at the utter crap that airs alongside it. So what I take from that is that even in the rarefied world of Hollywood scriptwriters, it’s really hard to come across someone who can write well, write funny and write for a popular audience.
My wife likes 2BG, so I tend to end up watching it. It started out OK, but has gotten steadily worse. There are only so many vagina jokes out there, and I think they reuse the same ones every couple of episodes, hoping we won’t notice. (Yo, writers: it isn’t working. We’ve noticed.) I’m pretty sure they’ve exhausted every possible fetish for Sophie & Oleg. (At least, all the ones that can be mentioned on network TV).
