Last night, as I do every Thursday, I read The Washington City Paper, starting with the Straight Dope column in the back pages. The column was pertaining to Presidential intelligence and drunkeness (it’s not on the site, so no link). Then, this morning, I got the latest SD e-mail, pointing me to the present column about prions.
Did something strange happen (the City Paper got next week’s column a week early?), or are there now two columns a week: one for the web, and one for print?
Next week’s online column obviously isn’t online yet, but Slug’s illustration is, if you know where to look. http://www.straightdope.com/art/2001/010622.gif
It doesn’t really look like George W. to me, but with Slug, anything is possible.
Nah, that’s deinitely Dubya in the illustration. Remember, he was a cheerleader at Yale.
FWIW, we got the prions column down here in the Austin rag.
Prions should have preceded the Presidents column. Maybe the paper screwed up? They get the columns in advance and they are dated for when they should appear.
That’s probably what happened. Although, not only is DC an hour before of Chicago, it seems that we’ve managed to get a week ahead of you now.
Thanks for the explanation. I’m curious to see what we’ll get next week.
JillGat, maybe you and UncleBeer need to rub heads together and come to a consensus.

Just an update: We got the prions column this week in DC.
