Vonage and Chevrolet?
Are they the same?
If so…what are the odds?

Not surprising really, if the song has been getting airplay. (I don’t watch enough TV to have heard it.) Actors in commercials have to sign a contract saying that they won’t work for a competitor for a certain amount of time (and they get money for it) and I assume song rights have the same clause. But Vonage is a VOIP company, so there is no conflict.
The Vonage advert is “Woo Hoo” by the 5.6.7.8.'s, which is on the Kill Bill 1 soundtrack. I have not heard the Chevy commercial as many times, but I think they use a different version of the song.
There’s a few commercials using the same music. The Geico commercial where the gecko dances the robot uses the same music as a makeup (Revlon?) commercial. There’s also another pair of unrelated products that use the same music. I think one of the products is either Rolaids or diarrhea medicine and the other product is a deodorant.
I remember the Geico one better because I always look at the TV to see the gecko dance the robot and am disappointed when I see close ups of Beyonce or some other chick with a flawless complexion. Who wants to see that?
Murcielago
Whether the Chevrolet commercial uses a different version or not, I think we can all agree that everyone involved in performing that song deserves a serious beating !!!
Is Vonage the ad with the “some people do stupid things” line? If so, I agree that these people must never be allowed to play with music again.
Ever.
I heard those commercials run together yesterday…talk about déjà vu
It’s actually an old rockabilly song that’s been covered by a million people.
The reason it’s so popular right now is that the band (the 5, 6, 7, 8’s) were in Kill Bill, and performed that very song in the movie. They’ve since become fashionable.
About a year ago, there were at least three commercials using the old 80s hit “Walking On Sunshine.” One was Fisher-Price Toys, one was a window company (Pella maybe?) and at least one other company that I can’t remember right now. I felt like every other ad was playing that song.

I feel like every commercial has “Battle Without Honnor or Humanity”
Took me forever to figure out what that song was (On this Board as a matter of fact)
I mean decide not see one Movie (Kill Bill) because you dont see the point in it, and get lost in a millioni Commercials.
Two West Side Story songs have come into the commercial world lately. “Somewhere” (“There’s a place for us / somewhere a place for us…”) is in some medical research company’s commercial, and “I Feel Pretty” is in the new Aquafina commercials. So not the same song, but still kind of rare.
Um, actually, I like that song. D&R
Is that the song used in the recent Capital One commercial with the invading Huns running through the shopping mall? The song that’s more suited to a King Arthur-type movie?
Lenny Kravitz’s song “Lady” is currently being used in ads for Target department stores and the TV series “Alias”.
I don’t know the commercial you refer to at the moment.
Battle with out Honor and Humanity is ““that”” piece of music on tv now days.
Here is a listing of some of the commercials that have used it:
Jagurar X8
Older GSN (Game Show Network) Commercials
Quiznos Subs
Team America World Police
Benihana
That would be ‘O Fortuna’ from Carl Orff’s carmina Burana. And it does tend to get used in movie trailers when the full score hasn’t been composed, so that’s why it sounds movie-ish, I guess.
I like that Capital One commercial. Barbarians at the mall is a cute idea.
Also, that Geico commercial where the gecko does “The Robot.” That music is used in some other current commercial that I don’t recall now. (Love the way the nerdy white guy does “The Robot” afterwards.)
James Brown’s “I Feel Good” should never be used in another commercial. Ever. It’s always in laxative, diaper or insurance commercials.
Iggy Pop’s “Lust For life” is starting to show up too much. Do the people that make these commercials ever listen to the words?
No Styx songs either. Doesn’t matter what song, I just don’t want to hear any more Styx songs.
Melandry
Carl Orff’s “Musica Poetica” gets used in commercials every so often. (Mercedes Benz, a few years ago). Among other things it was used as the theme in “Badlands” (Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek).
