Two deer this morning

Ahh, well, I can’t say for sure, but I’d guess they were just heading for their bedding area then.

We see a lot of the things around here. Funny thing: when hubby and I are driving to work or something, only one of us will even see the animal. The one of us who sees it will yell, “Deer!” The other one will respond, “Yes, honey?” We’ve taken to yelling, “Four legged furry thing with antlers!” That gives the other person at least a sporting chance to see.

The road we take to work parallels the Natchez Trace, and that road is infested with deer. It makes sense that the infestation expands to the neighboring roads. Last time we traveled the Trace from Jackson to Nashville, we saw so many deer and turkeys that we stopped counting. Made for an exciting trip.

The worst one, though, didn’t involve deer or turkey. Just a bird. We were driving on Mississippi 25 towards Starkville when a bird decided to commit birdicide on our windshield. We drove for about a mile with a dead bird stuck on our windshield wipers. Hubby pulled out a grabage bag from the trunk, took the bird off the windshield, and left it there. Kind of traumatic for one kid: the other still talks about it.

Me ‘n’ Mr. K looked out the window this morning and saw about 7 deer cross our road. We’re overrun with 'em.
