Two hit wonders

OK, so maybe that’s not what they’re called, but still, we all have heard about one hit wonders, hell, there’s even TV shows made about them, but what about the two hit wonders? I mean, sure, they have one more hit to their name, but still, two hits isn’t very many (unless of course you don’t have any  )
But anyway, what are the ones that you like? I can think of a few, but for some reason, I can only think of ones from the 80’s
ABC - Be Near me, & When Somkey Sings
The Motels - Only the Lonely, & Suddenly, Last Summer
White Lion - Wait, & When the Children Cry
Fine Young Cannibals - She Drive Me Crazy, & Good Thing
And, shoot, I had a couple of others, but I can’t remember them now.
Anyway, which ones do you like?

Okay, I’ll bite. But I can only think of a really old one:

The Cyrcle - Red Rubber Ball & Turn Down Day

Wow, I’m affraid that neither song sounds familiar. What decade are they from?

Naked Eyes–Always Something There to Remind Me & Promises, Promises

Bananarama - Venus, Cruel Summer

The sixties. They toured with The Beatles in 1966.

Yeah, I know, I’ll dotter off and knit something now.

Falco - Der Kommissar & Rock Me Amadeus

Two more amusing music videos you would be hard-pressed to find.

I have to disagree with this one because ABC also had 2 other hits:

  1. The Look Of Love
  2. Poison Arrow

Just because your local 80’s station doesn’t play them now, doesn’t mean they weren’t played then… heard Beat it lately?

Chris W

And the Motels had a third hit:
Take the ‘L’ out of Lover and It’s Over"
(my favorite of the 3 actually).

Doesn’t sound familiar. I’ll have to look up the lyrics and see if they ring a bell.

Tone Loc- Wild Thing and Funky Cold Medina

Oh yeah, The Look Of Love, I remember the name, but not the song. As for Posion Arrow however, that doesn’t ring a bell I’m afraid.

Hehehe, I like some singers/groups from the 50’s and 60’s myself.
Granted, I was born in '73 so that’s not the music I grew up listening to (although sometime in the late 80’s or early 90’s I went with my mother and some other family members to a Herman’s Hermits concert  . Just kidding, actually, it wasn’t geeky like I was affraid it would be. They kept up with the times and had a good modern rock sound, even for their old hits. (I stupidly assumed that they would stick with their 60’s sound))

Good one…or ones…

Ah, I just remembered one.
Simple Minds - Don’t You (Forget About Me) and Alive and Kicking

MC Hammer - Can’t Touch This, 2 Legit 2 Quit

It would seem One Hit Wonder is easy to define. But there’s a difference between…

Former band member with hit: Balin, Marty - Hearts
Out of nowhere to #1 and back: Abbott, Gregory - Shake You Down
Foreign (read UK or Canada) artist with other hits at home: [I can’t think of one, whoops!]

As to a twofers— never forget Golden Earring.

Would that it were so… Have You Seen Her (Billboard #4), Pray (#2).

This is a tough one. Because I immediately thought of other songs by a lot of these artists that got play when they were released.

And Falco didn’t release ‘Der Kommissar’, did he?

Might Sugarloaf qualify? They hit #3 with “Green-Eyed Lady” and had another one in the top ten with “Don’t Call Us (We’ll Call You)”.
