Two people found dead at Rob Reiner's home. (Sadly confirmed it was Rob and his wife.)

Rob Reiner directed a documentary about his son ten years ago. Being Charlie

I think the interview was a promo for that project. The movie is on YouTube with ads. I don’t want to watch it. :smiling_face_with_tear:

Mary Tyler Moore told a story on Letterman about her days on the Dick Van Dyke Show. She was walking down a stairwell, wearing those Capri pants, and the director’s 12-year old kid going the other direction slapped her on the ass. She complained to the director, and later heard him bawling his kid out big-time: “You do NOT treat women like that, EVER!!”, etc.

She concluded, “And I guess that’s why I’ve never made a Rob Reiner film”.

Yeah, that was a really bad thing for a 12 year old to do, but at least his Dad(Carl) knew what to do. I hope Rob Reiner apologized even as a kid.

I’m a teacher, a male one. I haven’t seen a 12 year old do that to a female teacher, but I have heard them made inappropriate comments about certain teachers being “hot”, etc(actually much worse, I’m cleaning this up). I speak with them to tell them not to do that.

SWe had Rob Reiner as one of the Arizona Speaker Series guests, He was great. He told the story about Mary Tyler Moore mentioned above. It was clear he wasn’t an abuser, he was a kid.

He told about how “if I ever win the Nobel Prize the headlines will read ‘Meathead Wins Nobel Prize!’”

The saddest one was how his dad and Mel Brooks were best buddies, and Mel would come over to visit Carl every afternoon and hang out, and after his father died, Mel would still come over and just sit there, missing him. My thought was, I wanted to buy the house, because a house that came with a built-in Mel Brooks would be awesome! No one else would have that!

The son, Nick, has been formally arrested.

I feel nauseated even thinking about this whole situation. Would not wish this on even my worst enemy or the worst in the world.

And of course the President of the United States is taking the high road.

{/sarcasm}

What the everloving fuck is wrong with this asshole?

A good link, but as this is the result of such,

Let’s spin-off any comments on that speech to the Pit where it belongs.

If you are responding to something in a thread that is basically off-topic or likely to lead to a hijack, try this:

How to Reply as a linked Topic:

Click Reply, in the upper left corner of the reply window is the reply type button, looks like a curving arrow point to the right.

Choose Reply as linked topic and it starts a new thread. As an example, you can choose GD, IMHO or The Pit for it.

That is actually the best method.

Moderating:

In addition to his great movies, I enjoyed him recently on The Bear. It was nice seeing him do television again.

As expected.

See also this in P&E as an alternative place to post:

It was also brought up in multiple Pit threads.

Especially if you named it “Cave 76.”

In my late teens I watched All in the Family reruns almost every day. I guess I am a political moderate in a family of far right people. So, Rob Reiner, Carol O’Conner, Normal Lear, etc. could be considered some of the most significant people in my life.

I have the All in the Family box set and Thursday night is All in the Family night (I may switch this week).

I’m surprised that so few of the news stories about this don’t mention that Reiner was on All in the Family. I would think that what more people would talk about when they hear Reiner’s name is that rather than his movies. It was the number one ranked television series for five of the nine seasons it was on. It had seven spin-off television series.

I’m surprised that Nick was granted bail. True, the amount was set at $4 million, but for a wealthy family like the Reiners if someone wanted to raise that amount they probably could. I’m pretty sure no one will, however.

FTR, Carroll O’Connor

Yet another weird twist.

I doubt Nick has any access to his parents wealth. Hopefully no one in the family would post bail. It will be interesting to hear which high profile lawyer takes the case.
