Two prisoners escape using tactis similar to Escape from Alcatraz. I predict a movie very soon.

I’ll go check out the basement of that abandoned house over there!

It appears that the escapees did gain arms from a cabin. CNN is reporting that Matt took a shot at a driver who called 911. I assume he was trying to carjack the vehicle.

Wait until dark. There will be fewer distractions!

One down and one to go.

Grape flavored gin. I guess it’s a step up from whatever they were drinking in prison, but still. . . Ugh.

Walking out of the cabin must have been very frightening. :dubious:

I wonder if they were drunk when at least one of them starting firing for no apparent purpose. “Watch me put a hole in this RV!”

I believe as another post upthread that they wanted to use the RV, but you may very well be right.
The evils of drinking!

Well, that one won’t be starring as himself in that up-coming movie you predicted.

Morning news reports say Matt was drunk when he was killed. Maybe he’d just had enough of running, and it being his birthday and all decided to go out roaring drunk, shoot at a passing RV, wait for the Law … then cough to draw attention to himself.

Can a shotgun put a single bullet hole in the back of a recreational vehicle? Maybe Sweat had another weapon nearby, and had easily slipped away by the time they swarmed Matt … maybe they planned that little diversion.

Bunch of us got drunk on gin and grape Koolaid in high school, it’ll make you do sorrowful things …

If they do make a movie about this, it would be nice if they shared some of the profits, if there are any, with the communities that have been affected by this.

They have spent millions trying to catch these dangerous guys.

In the movie version, the cop that brought Matt down will walk up to his corpse and say, “Have a nice day, motherfucker.”

Then place that yellow note they left at their escape exit over the bullet hole in his forehead.

I wonder how many seconds between show me your hands and bam, bam, bam? maybe 1 second? These tactical teams were on a razor’s edge and not taking any chances. Three in the head, just like that.

Nearly all history’s notorious outlaws went down that way. Dillinger got shot by cops otside a Chicago movie theater. , Ma Barker and her son, and Bonnie & Clyde were riddled with bullets from a dozen weapons. Pretty Boy Floyd got it in the back in a farmer’s field fleeing FBI Agents. Sheriff Pat Garret killed Billy the Kid.

Crime doesn’t pay.

According to CNN, Sweat is wounded and in custody.

NY Times, also.

So the saga ends. Now they can begin writing the screenplay and casting the actors.

I wonder if Joyce Mitchell will be charged in Matt’s death? She could have reported this escape plan to prison authorities and averted the escape. Even 20 to 30 minutes warning would have been enough time for guards to drag them out of their cells before they got away. Instead she has her husband take her to the hospital for a “panic attack”. One man dead, another wounded and easily a million bucks spent on the manhunt. All because she said nothing until after they escaped.

They did not get very far. i guess the plan fell apart when that woman backed out. I imagine that the two would have killed her and dumped the body. Then drive…a long way off. They could have drifted into a major city and hidden there…if they had some money.

There’s no place to hide in the world we live in today. Law enforcement has too many high tech tools. They were using DNA to track these two. *These men touched this can of pepper. *That’s as high tech as you can get.

Matt got killed by a fast response tactical team. They had a helicopter on the pad waiting to take off at a moments notice. One minute Matt is at a quiet campsite having a drink. No one around for miles. Within minutes he’s got this team swarming him. Its like something from an action movie.

I’m glad no innocent people got hurt. No police hurt either. It’s the best outcome considering how dangerous these men were.

The Superintendent and the Deputy Superintendent for Security have been put on leave. It’s been suggested to them that they should announce their retirements. Nine other employees have also been put on leave.

Hopefully this will be more a case of shaking out some complacency rather than looking for scapegoats.

Win.
