Two Roads Diverged ...

I live eight miles from my workplace. It’s an easy commute – every day I drive four miles north and four miles east. Every day I come to a stop sign and have to make a decision: east first or north first? Every day I make the same decision.

If I head east initially I immediately encounter traffic lights, school zones, lines of cars, school buses, road repairs, irate drivers, etc., etc. I get to drive right through our little suburban downtown and compete with a thousand other drivers for a spot on the highway heading north.

If I head north I get to take a back road that skirts a creek and then a lake. No lights, one stop sign, a few cars. There are trees and farms, even an occasional cow or horse. When I eventually turn east it’s a four-lane arterial with a moderate amount of traffic, but it’s not bad except for one small stretch just before I get to work.

The back road is just a little longer. Maybe half a mile. I think it’s worth it.

I’d take that path too, Pluto. I hate the freeway and take a road parallel to it to work everyday. I have to deal with a few lights, but it’s much better than dealing with freeway assholes.

I can see the building that I work in from my apartment… <sigh>

I miss going on long drives and getting lost. <double sigh>

That’s really cool Pluto… I’d take the same route. Just tell me one thing, “Has it made all the difference?”

Tomorrow, when you come to that intersection, put your left foot on the brake, your right foot on the gas, right palm on the horn, extend your left middle finger, hold your lower lip between your teeth, gently blowing (so you can say a word beginning with an “f” before someone else does), and head east, baby!!! Don’t tell them to ‘come get some!’ – you’re bringing it to 'em!!! Woo hoo!! Honk-honk!!
