Two Tapatalk questions

  1. Is there a way to set the default for threads to first post? For me TT defaults to the last page.

  2. Does TT have a search function?

check with support.tapatalk.com

For the read default:

  1. go to the Tapatalk home page (the one that has the Straight Dope logo, and any other fora that you’ve signed up for).

  2. click “Me” on the menu at the bottom of the page.

  3. click “Settings”

  4. scroll down to “Read Order” and click it

  5. choose “oldest post” and it always opens at Post #1 in a thread.

(This is for Tapatalk on an iPhone; I assume it’s the same for Android devices.)

For searches, there isn’t a universal “search SDMB” function. Instead, there are two options: search a particular forum, or search within a thread.

When you have Tapatalk opened to a SDMB forum, like GQ, there’s a search bar at the top of the display which searches all of the threads in that forum.

When you have a thread open, there’s a search bar at the top that will search that particular thread.

I don’t find the search function very good, because it only searches the first 20 threads, or the first 20 posts in a thread, but it is there.

(Again, info is for iPhone.)

Not the same on Android, but you helped me with digging around to find it.

  1. Click Me.
  2. Settings
  3. Scroll down to Unread Handling
  4. Click Post Jumping
  5. Choose Jump to Original Post.

Seems silly that it’s different, but whaddya gonna do…

Thanks for the help!

Glad to be of help!
