Two weeks to..... Oblivion

:frowning:
I feel bad for me too… I’m hoping that they release a patch for the 360… it’s happened before, kinda.

From another forum:

The word “eventually” isn’t encouraging. Notice he doesn’t even say “we’re already working on an update”. :dubious:

Nothing important, just something I wanted to share:

It must be the start of fall in the game. Last night, I saw a couple bright red trees. Today, while I was playing, I noticed the grass was starting to turn brown. I can’t wait to see if the leaves start falling.

I’m guessing they’re taking a much needed vacation, swimming in a tropical ocean of money.

By way of requiring 20 skill advances per level? If so, where can I get this mod? I’d definitely like to do that with new characters.

Here, SenorBeef.

The modmaker can probably explain better than I can what it does.

Especially if they get a percentage cut from all the new computers purchased because of Oblivion. Not that cough anyone around here cough

Damnit!!!

For anybody playing on the 360 do not, I repeat do NOT start the Clavicus Vile quest unless you have already gotten the sword that he asks for. Otherwise, your game will crash when you try to finish the quest.

As of yet, Bethesda hasn’t even admitted there’s a problem, so a patch is unlikely.

Grrrrr.

I installed the BTMod last night, and I can’t believe I’ve been playing so long without it. Awesome stuff. Thanks, DeadlyAccurate. I also put in the levelling mod, now I can raid a goblin nest without gaining a level.

Ah, damn. I’m hoping to find one that simply increases the advancement requirement for levelling up to 20. It caps your max level at around 20-26, but since the monster lists in the game are really designed for 0-20, that doesn’t sound too bad. It would let your skills advance just as fast, you just wouldn’t level as fast, therefore getting better attribute bonuses, making up for the lesser number of times you level.

This one just slows the game down - you need to do stuff more to advance in it, which isn’t really what I was looking for.

So, riddle me this, since I’m apparently ignant. Why is it that the X-Box 360, which is a PC at the core, right?, and has a hard drive and everything, can’t use mods for the game?

Apparently people on the official forum are BLAMING the console players (well… mostly their console) for making the game not optimized the way they think it should be. Hehe… they are never happy unless they got someone to blame ;).

I don’t think the game “approved” of the way I took on the Mythic Dawn. Rather than die (again) trying to join them and infiltrate, I did what I do best. I found a sniping spot and took them out one-by-one. Next thing I know, the Dark Brotherhood is visiting me! Whassup wid dat?

Also, poor Battlemages. They came to my aid in a Mage Guild quest, but for some reason an Imperial Legionnaire took issue with them. Cut them down cold. Girl was cute…was hoping to arrange something back at the room. The game needs more interludes like that! After all, if I want to be Conan, I want some of the fun Conan had.

Ha! Same thing happened to me. Though the guard died in the end and only one of the battlemages survived. I half expected to see all the mages guilds overrun with guards upon my return to the city.

There’s no interface for storing and activating mods for the xbox, as far as I’m aware. While it’s a PC at its core, it doesn’t have the flexibility of the PC interface/operating system. I suppose Bethesda could’ve set up functionality to let people upload mods from burned CDs or something.

I don’t think they’re blaming the console players so much as thinking that certain things were compromised to make them more console friendly because the game was developed for both. The interface, for example, is very console friendly, and that’s the biggest complaint - it doesn’t much use the extra flexibility that PC controls offer.

Not only does it not make use of the PC’s greater flexibility, there seem to be elements that were designed solely with the console in mind. The example that jumps out at me is the bartering interface. Having to confirm every item bought/sold requires a lot of mouse movement on the PC, whereas on the Xbox you presumably just hit a button on your gamepad.

I think the lack of hot keys is the same. 8 is too few. At least the game pauses for the inventory screen.

I don’t get the problems with the confirm sale button. It prevents me from making mistakes due to an errant click (which I have done on an occasion or two).

Morrowind had 9. And it was released well before the XBox.

I think some of the complaints don’t take into account that Morrowind’s interface was nothing special for the PC either, even though it was designed solely for that system.

Ah, but on the elderscrolls forum, they’re blaming the 360 for the fact that there are no children in the game. The 360 is also responsible for the fact that this guy’s video card isn’t drawing grass from horizon to horizon. And it’s responsible for all the rain.

By the way, the 360 is also responsible for the fact that Bethesda didn’t introduce a fully AI system of supply and demand, of shipping and delivery, so we could see how the items were all made and provided to the merchants; or farmed and harvested and delivered to the grocers, etc. (Yes, somebody complained about that and blamed it on the 360.)

They’re blaming the 360 for everything.

There are some legitimate gripes about the GUI: the PC is capable of showing more information per tab than it does, or of allowing the user to type in “sell 20” rather than click-click-click until you get to the right part of the slider. It would also be nice if there were a longer list of in-game functions that could be applied to hot-keys and mouse buttons and scrollers.

Me, I blame the 360 for the Arena. Sure, it semi-fits the Roman overtones of the Imperials, but I’d bet Microsoft pushed for something that could be made into Live content some day.

I’ve sold thousands of items. I’ve clicked the confirm button hundreds of times. How many times have I accidentally sold something? Maybe twice, if at all. Solution? Reload the autosave to when you got in the shop.

So… in order to prevent me from making a mistake that’s easily correctible, it forces me to make my bartering experience take 3x as long, and involve lots of tedious, pointless mouse clicking. Terrible design. They should have, at least, added a shift-click command or something that sells without confirmation.
