If the people who made Morrowind are to be trusted, then you should be able to jump in and play Oblivion and have a great time, mods/walkthroughs notwithstanding–it shouldn’t need them. I never had any mods or walkthroughs for Morrowind and it’s one of my favoritest games ever.
sigh. 45 minutes until I can take off out of here like a scalded cat and see if it’s at Best Buy…
Probably not. Remember today is the SHIPPING DATE. That means most game stores will have it tomorrow. Everyone I’ve called today said they’ll get it tomorrow. Some, few, lucky ones may indeed get it today, but its rare.
Tomorrow. They just released their “One Day To Go” video. Most games are released on Tuesday, just like movies (though they’re not quite as strict about that.)
Hey, I thought I should share this because I didn’t know, and likely, there are other tech-idiots like me out here in DoperLand . . . .
If you’re buying the game for the 360, you need to have the hard drive (the core system doesn’t.) You can play the game; you just can’t save it.
I’m getting my copy on the 22nd. I’m going to create my “throw away” characters (so I can see what happens when you do Bad Things I don’t want my real character being tarnished with.) I’ll play those to get the hang of the game before I start playing in earnest after my hard drive arrives.
I went ahead and got the Collector’s Edition which comes with the guide. I think that I might be confused by all the changes I’ve been seeing reported, and might need a little extra help. I think that a person who never played Morrowind might be better off than someone who is used to the controls/toggling/menus in the old game.
Our EB Games told us that it’s at their warehouse, but won’t make its way to their store until tomorrow. My husband is seething. “WHY CANT I GO TO THEIR WAREHOUSE?!”
I’ll be sad when it gets here as I will have lost both my husband as well as my access to Bejeweled on the 360.
FWIW, hubby says you can save it with a memory card but that the hd will improve load times.
Just to clarify, it does not come with the Prima strategy guide, but with a fluff piece written about the world it takes place in. It’d probably be worth your money, if you want to get the guide, to buy the regular edition of the game and use the extra dollars to get the actual strategy guide.
I’m really hoping to bring Oblivion for PC home tomorrow. I upgraded my PC (GeForce 7800 GT, woohoo!) in preparation.
For those of us who can’t wait, GameSpot is running an all-night live play session. It started at 6pm Pacific, and Greg Kasavin is apparently planning to play for 12 hours straight. So, if you want to, you can watch all night, then catch a little nap before heading to your local game store and getting in when they open up.
“Fluff” indicates small. From what I’ve heart it is a 110 page story about the history of the world. The thought of that makes me drool. One of my favorite parts of Morrowind was the immersion factor for me. Having the indepth story can only help.
Arrrrggh. Amazon is doing their thing again. I preordered Oblivion months ago, and it has said it would ship on the 20th for the past 2-3 weeks. In fact, it still says “Delivery estimate: March 21st” (I paid for overnight shipping) but it has not actually shipped yet.
I hate Amazon for lying to me.
I hate living in a town with no game stores.
If it hasn’t shipped by the time I leave work tonight, I will stalk the aisles of Target and WalMart after work, but I’m guessing they won’t have it either.
I’m fairly certain my video card will run the thing. I’m just waiting for Best Buy to open so I can go get my copy. It was pre-ordered for me by my dear fiance. ::wills time to go faster, just for an hour or so::
