You’re not Joe Pesci or Al Pacino or some such.
I could count them if I wanted, it would take almost no effort at all; there’s really no need to prefix your pithy replies with a word count.
Thank you

Eight words: what in the hell are you talking about?
I think there are problems in the once peaceful Kingdom of Butter.
<calls out the monkey army to close down the border crossings>
No words:
One word: Huh?
Oh. Come. On. - you know exactly what I’m talking about.
Yeah, I know exactly what you’re talking about: the whole
“___ words: …” construction is getting tired and needs to be given a rest. One word: Amen.
Two words:
Who the fuck cares?
Love, Hamadryad
P.S.: Your mom.
Anyone see Bob Newhart on MAD tv?
STOP IT!
but I’m just…
STOP IT!
you see this problem is affecting my sleep…
STOP IT!
Really.
Who knew?!
Say what?
YEAH.
ha ha ha ha haha ha
Stop it!?!?!?!?
As if!
And also… did this thread make anyone else think of this monstrosity?
I as well have eight words:
I reiterate, what the hell is going on?
Tripler
Two more: I’m lost.

Two more: I’m lost.
Oh wait, two more:
Damn preview. :smack:
Deja vu.
 Um, I’m sorry I didn’t think you could see that.
I’m so embarrassed
Just in case there’s anybody who doesn’t know exactly what is the focus of my ire in this particular thread, I’m talking about the device whereby people comment in a thread thus:
Two words: Erectile Disfunction
or
One word: Chocolate!
It is very annoying and completely superfluous; if I was interested, I would count the words (I can count up to ten without removing my socks).
I can count to eleven without removing my socks.
Right. In any event, it takes precious time to count up the words in each message, and there is a high risk of error if we’re in a hurry to post. From now on I propose we simply use the construction “n words, where n equals the number of words in this post”.
Much simpler, really.
