Filling gas tank while cop.
Would you settle for an elaborate funeral, with an honor guard and a procession of police cars? Ok, just for you we’ll throw in pipes and drums and a college fund for his kid- if he had one.
Come on, be fair. It’s the new “Wait until shot” policy that many dopers have demanded the police adopt. That policy clearly requires the cop to identify himself after the first shot, ask the shooter to stop shooting after the second. Only then shall he be allowed to pull his gun for the sole purpose of firing a warning shot.
Name one.
I admit curiosity on this matter, myself.
Well, then why didn’t the officer firing his warning round and then shoot back? The suspect fired multiple rounds, after all.
(At least I can recognize hyperbole, though overall I believe police should keep their weapons holstered far more than they do currently.)
On preview: Joey P, that’s ‘shot at’, not ‘wait until shot’. Big distinction.
Thing is, we don’t know squat about this case yet. Surely not enough to draw any lessons that conveniently fit a pre-formed social or political agenda. Ms Bland is dead, and ought not be. This policeman is dead, and ought not be.
All the rest that we know would fit into a thimble and still leave enough room for a banker’s heart, Sean Hannity’s brain and Donald Trump’s pecker.
I don’t know why you’re curious, since you posted to the same thread as Mr. Dribble, yourself.

Perhaps he did not consider that post as applicable as being shot and being shot at are two different things?
Yeah, multiple rounds, all in the cop’s back. They call that an ambush right?
Dear Bryan Ekers:
Previous to this, I had considered you an acceptable, if somewhat dim, correspondent and congenial Doper. However, your public and enthusiastic approval of the murder of police officers is quite beyond acceptable, and demands that I renounce, denounce and condemn in the strongest possible terms. Naturally, your position as a pariah relieves me of any responsibility I may have had to return borrowed money. Stern duty demands, and I obey.
Upon your Banning, I expect to join the gleeful celebration with full enthusiasm, as you ensucken dead donkey balls!
sigh Maybe it wasn’t hyperbole, as the sarcasm in my response seemed to be too much to grasp.
All Lives Matter?
Perhaps that’s why I left the second line in the quote.
I hear a theme being suggested here, insinuated with a sneer and a wink. It would seem that the link between this wretched murder and Black Lives Matter is so obvious and apparent that waiting for any actual evidence is a waste of time.
Perhaps I misread, misunderstand. Hope so. Pessimists love being wrong.
Don’t have much time right at this moment to read through the whole topic, or follow any links, but would I be correct in guessing the deputy in question is black and his murderer is white?
Since when? How can I say, “I told you so,” if I turn out to be wrong?
Other way round. Victim is white, suspect is black.
Indeed. Well, I was curious and if this is the best or only example, then I’ll have to provisionally consider It’s the new “Wait until shot” policy that many dopers have demanded the police adopt to be at least hyperbolic, possibly mistaken, potentially a blatant and foolish lie.
