Tie knots! Haven’t been wearing ties all that much lately.
The fourinhand is that stupid lopsided knot that lots of people wear. Looks bad.
The Windsor has a whole lot of looping going on. This makes it complicated, and you need a really long tie, or you end up with a short stumpy tie.
The halfwindsor looks similar to what I always use, but the picture does something funny. It does both loops up and through the opening on the same side. This makes a lopsided knot. Instead, do the first loop on one side, come across the front, and do the second loop on the other side, coming over and through the knot. This makes a symmetrical knot.
The Shelby looks closer to what I’m describing. I tie something of a cross between the shelby and the halfwindsor.
The important part is straightening the tie coming out of the loop at the end. I never worry about the dimple, but I work to make sure it looks symmetrical on exiting the knot.
Also, whenever using a new tie I sometimes have to try a few times to adjust to the length.
