Italians have pizzaries. The French have bistros. Americans have steak houses. Both the British and the Irish have pubs.

Who else?

Canada has doughnut shops.

Greeks have diners.

Mexicans have carts. Mmmmm.

The Vietnamese have pho joints.

The Koreans have tofu houses (serving soft tofu soup), and specialty fried chicken places (serving crispy fried chicken to die for).

Korean BBQ is what I think of.

And taquerias.

Greeks have chili parlors.

Indian (particularly Ango-Indian): curry houses
French/Belgian/general Francophone: brasserie
Italian: trattoria
American: diner, truckstop, buffet, barbecue
Japanese: Izakaya, sushi bar

Out here, Mexicans have <prefix>bertos.

Brazilian churrascaria
Jewish delis
Vietnamese pho house

Chicago is dotted with German bakeries. There are other types of German restaurants, but the most I see are German.

Same here. I’ve even seen one single location, in the space of ten years, go from Beto’s, to Alberto’s, to Berto’s, to Gual Berto’s, to Los Betos. :stuck_out_tongue:

There are a number of Salvadoran pupuseriasnear me.

Japanese noodle shops.

Jews have delis. They used to have kosher delis, but those are harder to find these days.

Chinese people have dim sum houses, hot pot joints and banquet halls.
Cameroonians have omelet stands and grilled fish ladies.
Indians have dhabas (roadside food stands serving travelers)

Germans have schnitzel haus.

And rathskellers.

I’d be even more specific and say Canada has Tim’s.
