This is driving me crazy…
I often have to look at the keys while I am typing, in order to type correctly. But SOMETIMES, I catch myself upon completion of typing something, and mentally exclaim, “Hey I wasn’t looking at the keys! I KNOW I wasn’t looking at them!”
If I attempt to deliberately type without looking at the keys, I cannot do it without massacring the text.
If I am unaware that I am typing without looking at the keys, I can type fairly decent.
arrrgh
Yeah, I can do it so long as I don’t focus on it too terribly much.
Like right now I’m looking at the clock.
Two errors (fixed 'em both). And I largely type with five fingers (four left, one right).
that’s like me going down the stairs: either i look at my feet as i go, or i don’t look at my feet and don’t notice and go down without tripping, or i don’t look at my feet purposely and trip and bang my tail. ughhh…
but, then again, i don’t have to look at the keyboard OR the screen when i type (when i’m copying something, i don’t make a lot of mistakes, but if i’m writing my own story or something, i mess up a WHOLE lot…)
is this effect psychological or is it just me?
I don’t ever have to look at the keys anymore and I rarely ever make mistakes. I use a grand total of about ehh 7 fingers for typing. I guess that comes from 5 years of computer classes in high school and being a semi-computer geek.
