U.S.A.F. Chaplains promote misogyny, gay bashing

Link here.
These are from blog posts by Air Force Reserve Chaplain Captain Sonny Hernandez, who posts regularly on the “Christian Fighter Pilot” blog:

This “Christian Fighter Pilot” blog is run by Air Force Lt. Col. Jonathan Dowty, where “Christian” crap like this has been pushed for over ten years. Well, apparently the appointment of Brig. General Kristin Goodwin to be the Air Force Academy’s next commandant of cadets didn’t sit well with either of them-it turns out that not only is she one of them there female types, but she is also GAY!!* They publicly attacked a superior officer, calling her a liar and calling into question her morality and her right to even hold the position.

The fact that they have been posting

makes me wonder why they weren’t stomped on a long time ago. I know there were problems in the U.S.A.F. a while back involving right-wing “Christianity”, but I thought they had cleaned up their act.
Apparently not.

So, you’re in favor of letting them thar women-folk rebel? They might be demanding to vote next!!

What’s the debate? These guys are clearly douchebags who should be court-martialed.

Also, it’s USAF. No periods in it (sorry, but that just annoys me)

The debate is that these are active duty members of the Air Force, one a chaplain, that have been actively and openly promoting racism, misogyny and gay bashing for over a decade without consequence. Chaplain Hernandez even attacks other military chaplains for not beings his kind of Christian:

It took an outside agency, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, to force the Air Force into finally doing something.

Well, at least one is not active duty.

Also, I am still not clear on the “debate” portion.

“Air Force Reserve Chaplain Captain Sonny Hernandez…”

“Air Force Reserve Chaplain Captain Sonny Hernandez…”

“Air Force Reserve Chaplain Captain Sonny Hernandez…”

Air Force…

AIR FORCE…

Air Force…

I’m not seeing your point here. Reserve is still military, and subject to military discipline, is it not?

You should do something about that stutter.
BTW, that error has already been pointed out.

So, you have a reserve chaplain, who posts his opinion that only men should be Ministers. Which is a matter of canon for several major organized religions. Are we now to the point of forcing people to not follow their faith?

I dont see racism or gay bashing.

I also dont see a debate here.

That sounds like something that Captain Sonny Hernandez might say.

Nice.

“The Homosexual, Anti-Christian Agenda and the Military”

“The Transgender (Homosexual) Lifestyle: A Military Chaplain’s Perspective”

Just a couple blog titles from the chaplain.

The owner of the blog, Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Dowty, active military, had to take down a blog blaming a Marine charged with bestiality on the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. He’s publicly called a superior officer a liar.

These are not racist and do not seem to promote gay bashing.

Why should the Air Force monitor the religious beliefs of its chaplains, instead of just making sure they do their duties?

Yes.

But reserve ≠ active duty, so “The debate is that these are active duty members of the Air Force…” is not really the case with respect to Capt Hernandez.

You picked magenta, by the way; I used a different color. I was going for fuschia shock.

These seem like homophobic and misogynist statements to me, but they are also coming from a religious belief that the Air Force doesn’t require of its members. While crass, it may be protected free speech.

No, we’re not forcing anyone to not follow their faith.

But since 1973, we’re not forcing anyone to be a member of the armed forces either.

If you choose to join the armed forces (including the reserves), you have to comply by the standards of the armed forces. If your religious beliefs are incompatible with military service, then you have to pick one of them and give up the other.

Should Muslim military chaplains be allowed to say that women should wear burqas? At some point there will be conflict.

Oh, go fuschia self.

I guess we’ll find out, if it happens.
Has it?

I’m pretty sure the standards of the armed forces have changed in order to accommodate its’ members religious beliefs.
