Ubiquitous introductory thread

I thought York was in Pennsylvania…

I mean York in England, before old man penn went off on one.

Oy! (I know my location says London but I’m from the north. Consider your remarks automatically objected to, and continue.)

Errr. My best friends are northerners… Honest!!!

Jokes aside. I venture up to york and whitby quite a bit. Excuse caps… Iphone you see. Where do you hail from?

Hi from the Andtipodes.

I’m a born & bred Kiwi, but often get mistaken for a Brit. I got no dog in the regional infighting up there, my family hails from Glasgow so we could take the lot of you soft southerners.

If only I had a history degree for this anglo/alba situation.

Just start a thread in general questions.

Another oddity is New Brunswick, named after the city in Germany. So that one is really and truly “south of England”.

We have an Aberdeen here in Maryland. No idea whether it resembles its namesake in any way. Also, the state is itself named for an English queen — Henrietta Maria, wife of Charles I. (Henriettaland didn’t test well though, so they went with her other name.)

Oh, and welcome to the board of course.
