Would UK Dopers like to stand up and be counted?

In a thread in GD on a British issue, Sandwich said

I’ve always been under the impression that there isn’t a huge UK presence here, and now that so many people are Guests, it’s hard to tell.

So, who here is from the UK?

For I myself have said it,
And it’s greatly to my credit,
That I am an Englishman!
For I might have been a Roos-ian,
A French, or Turk, or Proo-sian, Or perhaps Ita-lian
But in spite of all temptations
To belong to other nations,
I remain an Englishman!

AN E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-NGLISH-MAN!
Yep, English here. I quite like the American slant of the board. It broadens one’s horizons, so to speak.

Yes, I agree; in fact, I like the international aspect. I was saying in that thread that many threads on UK issues die a fairly early death, mainly, I think because there aren’t many UK Dopers. Hence this thread.

another UK’er here

+1

me too

Since this is a poll of sorts, it’s better suited for IMHO than GQ.

Colibri

Ich bin auch ein Inselaffe.

I’m British rather than English.

Would a poll asking for current country of residence not be in order?

Yo. Fo’shizzle.

Englishman here, but living in the USA.

me two

+1 living in Canada

Fee - Fi - Fo- Fum…

I am also English.

Another one here.

I’m a Sasanach too.

I’m from the UK and agree that it’s better to discuss stuff here than on other sites. I’m not sure how the SDMB rules about referring to other boards apply but I know of one British site run by a very reputable organisation that should be good but suffers from the fact that you can’t start threads calling people on the “opinionated joyless arrogance” (as described by Derren Brown the other day) that many posters show. No matter what has been written in a blog or article, in the first half dozen replies will be at least one example of what we here would call “threadshitting”, usually apparently motivated by envy that the original writer is employed as a writer / journalist and the poster isn’t. If the article is written by a woman some young fogey will write something like “utter piffle”, and if it relates to gender issues someone will always write “given all the problems in the world surely it’s not worth wasting time writing about this one.”

I know that sort of thing sometimes happens here but it seems harder to get away with it without people recognising it for what it is.

Sorry to nitpick, but that information isn’t as specific as the OP was asking: the ‘S’ in ‘WASP’, as used across North America, stands for "Sasunnach’, in its English form

I’m quoting my Irish passport place of birth.
