I’ve got Ubuntu Linux installed on on a Dell OptiPlex GX150 (oldish, but not ancient), and burning 4GB of data to a DVD at Ubuntu’s “use highest possible speed” setting takes something like 2 hours. Does that sound right?
I use the Ubuntu box as my network backup drive via Samba, and now that I’ve got some backups made, I just want to archive them to disk, but damn.
