I have wondered for a while if Southgate is trolling us. The evidence is growing! We were awful yet again but somehow got away with it. Switzerland are going to be far more difficult so I can’t see us beating them.
Spain played with more pressure in the first five minutes than England in 120 minutes.

However, Spain has been leaving holes in defense that allow very dangerous counterattacks. They should correct that.

Finally the constant pressure that Spain has been putting on the Georgian goal has paid back.
And now 4-1… Georgia seems to be crumbling.
At 4-1 now, it’s much what I had expected. Georgia play bravely, but stand no chance.
ETA: the Spain-Germany quarterfinal will be interesting. They’re the teams that both played for possession the most and dominated their opponents. I wonder how that turns out, but I expect a little more defensive approach by Nagelsmann in the next game.
England were bloody terrible. God knows how they won. It probably means we’ll go on to win the cup. Although I do have Germany in the office sweepstake.
Finding a way to win when you’re playing badly is a very good quality for a team to have. But if England don’t get their act together Switzerland will demolish them. Southgate seems determined to stick with the same approach he started the tournament with, even though it’s clear it doesn’t work.

If you’ve ever go to the park and play a little game of football with a 7 year old relative you’ll have to live with the fact that they’ll shoot every time they get the ball, insist on taking every free kick or penalty, will rarely pass it to you, will complain constantly when things don’t go their way, and will scream at the sky frequently when their shot doesn’t go in.
It must also be what it’s like for every Portuguese player on that pitch with Ronaldo. Hell, Ronaldo was screaming into the sky BEFORE he took a free kick.
