This reminded me of the time years ago when Bubba, our Cavalier King Charles spaniel decided that deer poop would make a tasty treat, with a resulting barf-a-rama and diarrhea.
You have to wonder what goes on in canid brains.

My dachshund loves deer poop. I have to keep an eagle eye on him when we’re out walking around, because there’s a load of it on my place.
Of course, this is a dog who consumed half of a sizeable soap remnant (Dial Antibacterial, for those who may be curious) a few days ago with no ill effects. No vomit, no diarrhea and nary a bubble blown from either end.
@OldOlds, I’m glad your dog is better!
How else would a person get the drug? You have to consult with your vet. I’m not buying it off the street.
I understand that.
Keeping them on hand still implies that one might give them to their pet if similar symptoms happen at a later date.
But not all diarrhea arises from the same cause, and it’s probably better for any pet owner whose pet has not been diagnosed with a chronic/recurrent condition that requires the exact same treatment each and every time the issue arises to consult their veterinarian before dispensing a medication to their pet – even a medication that was previously prescribed.
OK - I get it
Fyi, imodium is a drug, too, and a fairly potent one.
