UK courts says 'arrest a Saudi 747'

Brilliant. I’ve been following this story out of interest because I know some Western expats working in Saudi. Short version: Al Qaeda set off bombs in Saudi; the Saudi authorities arrested some Brits and tortured them into confessing that they were responsible and the violence was part of an illegal booze turf war.

Full story

Since release, the victims have tried suing the Saudi Govt in the UK, but the Saudis and the UK argued that you can’t sue a sovereign state. That’s still going through the courts. However, the men were awarded costs, and the Saudis haven’t paid. So now the court has ruled they can grab Saudi Govt assets in the UK not protected by diplomatic immunity.

Story

I would love to be that sheriff…

I’d go for some of the houses, and extract enough from a few of their bank accounts to install a nice pork BBQ pit and wet bar…

So the Saudis are the good guys? Yeah. Right. Britain should seize all the assets they can get their hands on, tie up all Saudi accounts in various lawsuits and hearings, sever all ties, and start rounding up all the Saudi “usual suspects”. Tit for tat. We should back them on this 100 percent and give our blessing. I don’t think it will happen though. They need the almighty oil just like everyone else.

Would it help if we sold them some state of the art weapons?
How about tacitly supporting their oppressive unelected royal government?
At least let us censor any documents implicating well placed Saudis in the Sept 11th attacks.
Consider it done.

It’s about time we stopped pussyfooting around these monsters. The sad part is, we’re so dependent on their oil that this may possibly hurt us in the long run.
