I’m sorry if English isn’t your first language or something, but failing that there’s really no way to interpret your statement other than you were talking shite. You are clearly and categorically stating that the majority of drug companies research budget comes from US sales, which is demonstrably wrong. Just accept that and move on, rather than trying to make some weak claim of contextual nuance.
Not to mention that much of the basic research that leads to new drugs is done by universities and governments, while the big pharmaceutical companies do a lot of “modify Viagra a teeny bit so we can restart the patent protection for another 20 years” type of R&D.
