I still stand by my first recommendation (which got somewhat lost in the subsequent posts ) of flying direct to Manchester, unless you actually have any reason to go via London - and while you’re at it, tell your corporate-bookings people that there’s more than one airport in Britain!. And I suppose Bradford isn’t that bad - at least there’s plenty of curry to be had. And lots of nice countryside nearby. But yes, Leeds is the better option for just about anything else.
Actually, they do some damned good curry in Bradford. There’s a place not too far from the train station called Khans, and they do some really good curry.
Heh heh, I was in two minds about how to predict you’d react to my suggestion
Or the Mumtaz Paan, surely the finest Indian restaurant in the entire universe? Dishes come by the pound or half-pound.
Transport-wise, I heartily agree that one must always check on the availability of the Circle and the Hammersmith & City Lines if travelling at the weekend. I see that the closure this forthcoming weekend (4th/5th December) has in fact been cancelled for some reason. But I would maintain that, if everything’s working as normal, the Heathrow Express plus the Circle/H&C is the best route from Heathrow to Kings Cross.
No no no nooooo!!! Don’t go near London at all!!! How many times do I have to say it!!!
Plus, it’s got one of the best museums in the world if you’re a film or photography buff (plus, it’s one of the few places left anywhere that screens Cinerama films in its original 3-projector configuration).
Hey, there is nothing wrong with London. At all.
And I’m getting better about curry restaurants. They’re not all bad. Besides, the alternative is me cooking one.
