many years ago, a friend of my mother’s returned from Englad with a most unusual sign-it is made to go on your front door, and says (in nice bold script) “PLEASE-Do NOT DISTURB THE DOG”!
I always wanted a sign like this…I suspect it reflects a peculiar English attitude about dogs (that they are the best thing ever created)-one attitude that i share!
Anyway, i’v looked high and low here…all you can get are “Beware of the Dog”, etc. can you locate this for me?
I like the idea of informing strangers that they should not trifle with the house’s rightful lord!
When my dad had a Shar-Pei, the sign on his fence said, "Ugly Dog.)
This site may help:
Somewhere online (though I am not sure as to where as I am lazy and not looking for it right now) there is a welcome mat that says, “Ask not for whom the dog barks. He barks for thee.” I thought that was pretty funny Not the same as the sign but maybe a close second?
Mrs. Small’s parents have a sign that says something to the effect of “Dogs are always welcome. Cats - by appointment only.”
Kind of comical as well…
