Well, at least you have it ready to watch them go into Ewood Park and destroy a truly unhappy Rovers team.
As I said upthread, Liverpool are gonna win the premiership this season.
Currently thrashing Newcastle 5-1 at St. James Park
What a finish at Blackburn.
Down 2-0 and we score twice in the last few mins.
Phew
“Magic 'arry” has started to look like his old useless self. He almost mucked it up with a good run, but he’s back on track to get Tottenham relegated.
Villa will get tired and/or pick up injures, Arsenal are getting players back, Villa will fade away.
It would be a rather sad indictment of the league if Liverpool win it. They’ve been quite useless. I suppose I have to hope for the lesser of the Red Scum to beat them to it now, so Stevie Me never wins the league, sigh. Maybe Chelski will step up and stop sucking, but that looks doubtful.
Still think all the English teams will get unceremoniously booted out of the CL.

Begging your pardon, have you been watching the same Liverpool team as the rest of us?
…just a minute…I get the feeling this is a whooooooosh
Good to see you posted chowder, I was worried about you possibly going cardiac after yesterday’s match.
I have the same feeling as you about Liverpool, they are quite good, and can score from a number of spots.
No, it wasn’t a whoosh. I really think they’re a very mediocre team (for League leaders in the Best League in the World[sub]TM[/sub]). They have a few good players (Gerrard, Torres, Alonso, Masch [although he’s a little cheat, he just gets away with it in England]), the rest are nothing worth writing home about. As Benitez himself said, Liverpool can only win the league if everyone else slips up, the same way he won with Valencia. Liverpool are a couple of long term injures (or prison sentences, hawhaw) to their key players away from playing in the EUFA cup at best. Similar team to Everton, actually, except Everton don’t really have any class players, just all round solidity.
Barca would dismember Liverpool (Please God, let me witness Messi vs Dossena), and teams like Madrid*/Juve/Villareal/Valencia/Meelan/Inter would all be roughly tossups IMO.
*in a couple months after Ramos sorts them out.
As a lifelong City supporter I have a season ticket to the local hospital IC unit
On days like the other day they normally have the paddles all charged up and ready to go
Must be some definition of “mediocre” I’m not used to.
I just mean in the context of top teams. Obviously they’re no, uh, Wigan or something. I just don’t find them any better than Villareal/Valencia/Sevilla/Meelan etc etc. Good teams, but don’t deserve to win leagues really. Certainly not the Best League in the World[sub]TM[/sub]. I consider all of Chelsea/United/Arsenal better teams on paper too, they’re just underperforming for various reasons.
Liverpool 2 - 1 Manchester United
Chelsea 0 - 1 Liverpool
Arsenal 1 - 1 Liverpool
Liverpool in Group D of the Champions League: 14 pts out of 18, more than any other team besides Bayern, who had the same. That includes your supposed supergiants Barça.
I’d say that, with half the season done, they’ve managed to prove they are more than you give them credit for. Of the PL teams, the only one really having an off year is Arsenal (they do look pretty dreadful compared to their usual). Maybe you don’t think their players are that good, but I’d say that’s just underestimating what they have. And of course Benitez says that: he’s using it as a motivator. :smack:
What are you going to do when Barça crash out of Europe at the quarter or semi stage and two English teams are contesting the final?
If that happened (unless it’s Arsenal vs United) I’d cry for football, as it would be the real loser. Especially Chelsea vs Liverpool, oh what a turgid affair that would be.
I know their results. I don’t find them impressive. Liverpool are on top because the others keep falling over themselves in an effort to be the worst top 4 team in the league.
United have been poor since Berbatov became an automatic starter for some bizarre reason, and Ronaldo stopped giving a shit. They’ve had to grind out results like Arsenal, they’re only in a better position because of their superior defence.
Chelsea haven’t been that terrible I suppose, though they’re just flat track bullies without Drogba. This is without mentioning Rome, easily the most pathetic display of “football” this season by an allegedly good team.
Arsenal’s problems are of course well documented, amusing that Liverpool’s weakest result of the three came against them, 10 man to boot.
Dunno why you mention CL group stages, they’re pretty meaningless. Barca qualified (first team to do so by the by), then stopped giving a toss. They played their reserve team in the final match, who cares about the points? Would’ve been the same record as Barca without that hilarious Stevie G dive at Anfield anyway
I suppose only time will tell, but at the moment I don’t think any of the English teams are even in the top 5 in Europe. Barca, Juve, Inter, Valencia and Villareal are all better. Madrid will probably be better in a couple months too. Atletico, Bayern and Lyon would have a good shot against these teams. Roma are kinda crap, but they could knock out Arsenal since Arsenal are kinda crap too.
This isn’t a love of Barca or a dislike of English teams, I just think they’ve all regressed by a remarkable degree since last season. Except Liverpool, which puts them top by default. United were superb last season, Chelsea were pretty good, Arsenal were pretty good. They’ve all managed to regress badly. It happens. Look at Real Madrid
Maybe. Or maybe Liverpool have stepped it up a notch and you just don’t like to think that’s possible, since they haven’t got some fancy assortment of bought talent oozing out of every orifice, like Manchester and Chelsea and Barça and …
Oi!
I’m on your side, keep mine out of it…if you’re referring to City that is
Yours affectionately;)
I said “fancy.”
Comparing Barca to the likes of Chelski and Manyoo, how insulting
Seriously though, I honestly don’t see any difference between Liverpool this year and last. The players are pretty much the same, and I think they’re playing pretty much the same. It’s just that the other teams have been slipping up bizarrely often.
United will still win the title. Especially if Stevie Me goes to prison (oh please God).
So anyway, WTF is Gerrard doing duffing up some bloke in a bar?
He could go to prison for 5 years if found guilty
I can’t believe that. I’ve never read a bad word about his personality. Playing, yes, but not anything about his character. Liverpool doesn’t need this kind of shit this year.
Need it or not, Liverpool have got it.
Course he won’t go to jail, I mean he is Stevie G isn’t he?
Not one of your common or garden plebs like us
Yeah, doubt he’ll spend any time in the pokey so I’m not worried about that. I’m more concerned how this will affect his game.
