I don’t think the Lib Dems will be so accomodating this time, and they may refuse to even work with the DUP alongside them.
I do feel the LibDems need time in quarantine or to ally with Labour.
That wasn’t an exit poll, it was their last projected result.
Why would they ally with Labour when they could form another government with the Tories?
Thanks, I thought I’d read Sinn Fein only had two. (thanks also hammos1.)
Could there be a possibility that Sinn Fein would take their seats? It would obviously be against their principles, but would give them a fair bit of leverage.
Why would they want to this time? They’ve nothing to gain from it beyond being lobby-fodder for the Tories.
To avoid becoming a soft Tory party. They need to be centrist if they want to be centrist. I was LibDems in England and was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for five years but would have backed out if there were two consecutive terms.

That LDEM vote count in Sunderland…
Not without the Oath being changed, and I doubt anybody’s in the mood for that. And a deal with Sinn Fein would be more controversial than one with the SNP.
Are you serious? You’ve just voted yourself into a pile of shit. The NHS will be gone and disability benefits and help will be all but gone too. The Tories have been quite open about this in their policies.
And you won’t get “a smaller slice” unless you’re already rich - and the pie won’t get larger unless you mean by being filled with hot air.
UKIP vote higher than expected in Sunderland South, Lib Dems lose their deposit.
Aye, it was a re-interview of 6000 previous pollees, if that’s a word.
Nonsense. Absolute, arrant nonsense. Their policies are the opposite of that, no party is going to destroy the NHS, and benefits will only be cut for those who have money anyway.
Did any of the exit polls remember to take postal voting into account?
Hard to see how they can. It’s literally interviewing people who leave the polling station.
Many parts of the NHS have already been privatised - basically all ancillary staff (like porters), ambulances, and some common testing procedures like ECGs. And the Tories have pledged to cut ALL benefits except pensions, so you’re basically talking bollocks.
Oh well. You’ll find out for yourself soon enough.
Rumours that Ed Balls could be in trouble? If only there were some kind of headline you could make out of that, but I can’t think of one.
Balls dropped? Balls cut off?
Exit poll has to be bollocks - it would mean all polls leading to this were totally wrong excepting one outlier. Makes no sense. Tactical/regional voting will kick in.
