UK General Election May 2015 (Population Share Version)

Privatise isn’t a synonym for destroy. And no, they haven’t.

I’ve had my share of benefit issues, but they come from the system and the rules not being applied properly. And no government has successfully dealt with that bureaucracy.

All that said, I don’t believe that the Tories will have it as easy as the exit poll suggests.

That may be what has happened, with people voting against Labour to try to prevent a coalition with the SNP.

The seeming Lib Dem -> UKIP swings in the two Sunderland constituencies that have declared is a bit unexpected. Two Lib Dem lost deposits too.

That’s two strong showings for UKIP in traditional northern Labour constituencies.

Three now. and a third lost Lib Dem deposit (out of three declarations). They didn’t lose any last time.

Ed Balls making the point that the Coalition has on this prediction gone from a large majority to single figures.

For all the talk of legitimacy we’ll hear later, worth pointing out that it looks like the Conservatives haven’t won an election since 1992.

I’m a bit drunk. Probably the only way to deal with this.

As someone who leans Tory I think it only fair to point out that in the last 2 or 3 GE’s Labour have had a built in advantage when it comes to the ratio of votes to seats. Winning a majority of seats is difficult when you require 2% or 3% more in the popular vote just to keep parity in seats.

Well, if the exit poll is true, and I hope not, then dull, patient, pathetic evil has triumphed again, as it does so often in a world of woes. However, it also means the Scots, in their desire for an independent nation have sold out the rest of Britain by ensuring a Tory victory. However I detest nationalism, it may be best to give them this and kick them out. It will condemn Scotland to generations of growing poverty, but their rancour and hatred online will only be satisfied by the tragedy of getting what they want.
I love Scotland as a place, lived there, and until recently went there once a year: it seems to have changed beyond recognition; barely anyone had this fervour, not even after the tragedy of Lady Thatcher, and now they are legion.

To tidy things, and to make life interesting, it would be best to let all the non-English regions have the same choice. Cornwall can’t go it alone, but I can live with the Islands joining Norway.

Best quote so far from the rolling Guardian ( I couldn’t stomach the Telegraph which Google seems to offer a lot tonight ) at 12:02

*Why do the outside broadcasts have a five second delay, like Doncaster is on the moon? When will they bring out a hapless, blibbering idiot for Paxman to yell at? Did David Mitchell choose that shirt/tie combo in the dark? Where has Richard Osman been all these years?
*
*My favourite Osman fact of the evening so far – if the electorate was made up entirely of people who like steak and kidney pudding (or dogging), UKIP would have a massive majority. You won’t get that kind of cutting-edge insight with Dimbleby. *
I’m not going to explain what dogging is.

As I said early and got poo-pooed, this is exactly what the Tories wanted and those up in Scotland have just lapped it up. They been played, they danced to the fiddle that the Tories played for them and have possibly ended up condemning the country. They must be so proud.

It’s been so fucking frustrating living in Scotland. People of a leftist bent sleepwalking into disaster because, yay, SNP! Nicola! New Dawn! Well done folks, loads of seats but zero influence.

Here’s a Cheering Up song for you…

Well this is amusing:

I was ten during that World Cup campaign. I believed, I truly did. I even learned how to play that on a recorder. Damn your eyes, you swine

Well yes, pretty easily, but then I live here

Andrew Marr has just said that Cameron could be the last PM of the UK and that to preserve the union, Cameron will have to offer something like federalism to Scotland.

What makes him think Wales and NI are going to leave in the next 5 years?

Because if recent experience has taught us anything, it’s that the one sure-fire way to ensure leftist government is to vote Labour.

Scotland is a Kingdom, England is a Kingdom, Wales is a principality. Northern Ireland is a Province (Ireland used to be a Kingdom).
