I’ve just listened to the first 30 seconds - I’m off out for dinner and don’t have the 16:35 to listen to it right now so will listen to it on my return. It’s openly a hit piece - fair play, mind. Is it unedited?
Yes, apart from the (unashamedly biased) intro, it’s just the interview as went out.
I’ve just listened to the first five minutes. There’s nothing there. They’re talking about immigration and Davidson appears to be in command of that brief. To when should I skip?
We obv. have to be careful what we draw from national polls but just considering the general mood, if it’s accurate that Labour are now somewhere in the very low 30s and the Conservatives are hovering around mid 40s, well, it could be worse.
Another few points in England and Wales for Labour and if the SNP hold off Davidson and there might yet be a credible opposition:
I see Labour want to introduce a Tobin tax. Perhaps they should recall what happened in Sweden.
I like the look of the Tories’ plans for social housing. Encouraging home ownership is a good thing and prevents council (or private) feifdoms. The devil will, of course, be in the details.
LOL. Well, the Tories record on housing over the past seven years speaks entirely for itself.
Excellent news. It’s worth it just to have the debate itself included in the election.
It worked well for them in the 80s. This time around it looks like they’ve learned from the mistakes of the 80s.
It’s utter stupidity. Do you really want the whole of the London Stock Exchange to decamp?
Scaremongering!
A SNP candidate is being investigated for professional misconduct.
Much as I loath the SNP for their racism and general incompetence, I do believe in the presumption of innocence.
And speaking of the SNP, they’re failing older people in their care. And older people are more likely to vote.
Living in Holborn & St Pancras I’m in a rock solid Labour seat held by Sir Keir Starmer, but had Labour canvassers knock on my door yesterday. I doubt any of the other parties will bother.
Currently leaning Labour, but I will be open to arguments until I put pencil to paper.
Double-post!
You haven’t quite grasped what the Tobin tax relates to
A brace!
We had 70 out canvessing yesterday morning in a similarly safe seat south of the river. Grassroots is getting out there.
The lesson of Sweden is that if you put a tax on trading, the trading moves elsewhere. It’s as simple as that.
Taxi!
That’s complete nonsense. The SNP have welcomed anyone from any background as members. You keep repeating this idiocy without a shred of evidence.
Let me put it bluntly: everyone in Scotland knows who the racists and bigots are. You can spot them walking down the street, chanting and waving the Union Jack. You know it and I know it. If you like I could post some videos of your best buddies in action. They’re NSFW but they do illustrate the point.
Ruth D has been actively courting the “Orange” vote and seems to have hoovered it up for the last election. I wouldn’t expect there are many left to maintain her momentum though.
Do you folks want to start a Scotland election thread?
No? That’s a shame.
If you want to limit discussion of this UK election to England, I suggest you start an England election thread. This one is named “UK Snap Election”.
Still, I guess there has been a fair amount of discussion on the third biggest party. Here’s a blog article about Theresa May and her vetting of questions instead: Journalists as State Functionaries - Craig Murray
