UK TV Policy On Terrorist Attack

Tonight, the BBC has cancelled its plans to show Dropzone, a movie featuring a plane hijack, and substituted another film in its stead.

Is this policy followed by US channels, or does it vary from station to station? Or what?

I read on Ain’t it Cool News that one of the major US networks is cancelling its plans to show the movie Independence Day this Sunday…

It’s up to each network, but most are looking very carefully at what they are airing. I know one station that was planning to air Independence Day (in which the Empire State Building and White House are blown up by aliens) is airing a comedy instead (Mrs. Doubtfire, I think). Also FOX was going to show The X-Files movie (in which a federal building is destroyed by a bomb) but will be showing something else.

The producers of the Spider Man movie have pulled a trailer which features a scene involving the WTC. The sequence was made for the trailer but is not in the movie which will be released on schedule.

Some unreleased movies, such as Collateral Damage are being shelved for a while because they contain plots involving terrorism.

All this info from the radio this morning.
