My Googlefu is failing me tonight. Despite a population of over 3 million, I can’t seem to find a single true ‘luxury’ hotel in Tel Aviv, Israel. I’m looking for a place to stay that is somewhat comparable to a Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons. I don’t mind if its the same size as those places or more of a smaller boutique establishment.
I don’t think the problem is with your Googlefu…
AFAIK, there are no ultra-luxurious hotels in Tel-Aviv.
FWIW, I phoned the local tourism chamber for you, and asked them for the top hotels in tel aviv.
They recommended either the David InterContinental hotel or the Dan Tel-Aviv.
If you’re willing to stay a little off-city, you can find in Herzelia (10-15 minutes from TA) the Dan Accadia.
Disclaimer: I havn’t been to any of these hotels myself.
I’m not sure such an hotel exists in the whole country; **perhaps **a suite or two in the Jeruslaem King David (look at the “Guestrooms and Suites” page, especially the “Presidantial” and the “Royal”) – but that’s an hour from Tel-Aviv even under the best traffic conditions.
thanks for all the info thus far everyone! Its hard to believe that such a cosmopolitan city doesn’t have a real ‘5 star’ hotel, I’m determined to keep looking for a boutique luxury hotel in or near Tel Aviv or Herzliya.
Samclem: Obviously you’re ruling is accepted, but I feel this was very much an objective factual question.
FWIW, AMEX Travel says that there are only 7 hotels that they would consider 5-star in the area:
The Carlton (Tel Aviv)
Hilton (Tel Aviv)
David Citadel (Jerusalem)
Dan Accadia Herzliya On Sea (Herzliya)
Golden Tulip Inbal (Jerusalem)
Dan Caesarea (Caesarea)
Dan Tel Aviv (Tel Aviv)
Generally, I find AMEX Travel fairly reliable but then again, I’ve never been in a Hilton that would compare to a Four Seasons so take it all with a grain of salt.
I don’t know about hotels, but recently I’ve been unwillingly exposed to the most luxurious Tel Aviv apartment for sale. The upper triplex costs 20 mill$ and one of those have been purchased by Baron Rothschild himself. The irony is, that the building situated on Baron Rothschild street.
His grandfather, I think. Go figure.
