I had the same reaction you did, but it was definitely my own personal bias, as I can see now it could be either way. I think it was reading in to the title - the “Ummm” part indicating interest?
Astroboy14, you’re assuming that sexual reproduction takes into account the desire of the lesbians to participate. From the standpoint of the male involved, it offers two potentially nubile ladies in compromising positions, allowing twice the spreading of seed. Think bisexual, not lesbians. Nobody told “Mr. Winky” that they aren’t interested in him. Also, you see two naked ladies that are presumably attractive rather than one hot chick getting it on with some other fat, hairy jerk. I wanna be the fat, hairy jerk!

I know for sure that not every men are attracted sexually by lesbians. I’m not, and I’m not homosexual either. And anyways, I don’t get “sexually attracted” to women. What I mean by that is if I see a very sexy woman, having sex with her won’t cross my mind. Love and sexual attraction is two very different things, and people tend to be one way or the other. Remember, love is between the ears, not the legs…

One of the things that your friend might need to consider is that… well, for some it is an acquired taste. Girls are taught that “down there” is icky and nasty and smells/tastes like fish (which it does NOT, thankyouverymuch) that when they actually start doing oral sex, they expect it to be bad, so it’s kind of a self fufilling prophecy. If that makes any sense.
Also, the girl on the other end might not have the best hygeine. The importance of proper washing can’t be stressed enough. I suggest a bath for two. (Easy on the soap, though.)
Nothing’s wrong with not enjoying it… but oral sex should be given a chance.

I assumed she was female because she stated that she was heterosexual. In other words, she was saying that she had no personal experience with lesbian sex, and that was why she didn’t know the answer to the question. A male could not have personal experience with “real” lesbian sex, so stating that he was heterosexual would be irrelevant.
And now we have evidence that Omniscient is not actually omniscient.

In order to give this question the proper answer it deserved, I decided it was necessary to conduct some research. I found to my surprise that it is possible to obtain actual filmed footage of lesbians engaged in sexual activity. In fact, I found it would be possible to purchase or rent thousands of hours worth of videotape on this subject. I also discovered volumes of written testimonies from lesbians describing their sexual activities and collections of still photographs of these women engaged in sexual acts. Amazingly, there are even services which allow researchers to call lesbians on the telephone and ask them questions about their sex life. I had no idea this issue was such a major subject of anthropological research.
This is actually something that has been researched in the psychological literature on sexuality. I don’t have the cites handy but I believe it was discussed in a publication of the Society for the Psychological Study of Gay and Lesbian Issues, a division of the APA. Basically, I seem to remember that something like a half to a thrid of straight men reported arousal to videos or pictures of lesbian sexual acts. The authors concluded that the main factor was seeing not one but two women highly aroused then imagining themselves joining in, the two at once scenario.
As to lesbian sexual practices, sensual aspects such as holding, cuddling, caressing and stroking play a large role. While lesbians certainly do have orgasms, (I suspect more regularly than their straight sisters!)sex is not neccessarily race to that end and then its over. It’s getting there and enjoying the closeness and intimacy (as well as orgasmic bliss) that counts. So couples use a variety of techniques depending on their needs and preferences.
Actually, I’m not sure if it’s lesbians having sex so much as just women having sex that men enjoy. If the women are thought of as bi, then the possibility of the guy (which would be me, hopefully) being welcomed to join is there. As for the rationale behind viewing pleasure: I like to see watch beautiful women enjoying sex, but men just turn me off visually. Thus, the appeal of the “girl/girl” scenario. I’ve never found it any more mysterious than that.
Regards the OP: I, too, would instinctively assume “going down” would be a major part of the repetoire, rather like anal intercourse would almost have to be included in male gay sex…but I guess after reading this thread that it doesn’t have to be.
