Unabashed Rant: A-Rod

The thing is, I am very good friends with the family of a St. Louis Cardinal, and we were ecstatic when he got his first big deal, and his next one. We thought that he was worth every penny. Not Pay-Rod money, mind you, but hey- making multiple millions per year is nothing to sneeze at.

Yet, most people would consider him part of the problem, because he scored a big contract.

I really think that the players union will have a tough time when the next work stoppage hits. I think that things will get very bad before they get better, and it may mortally wound the sport I adore. If the owners put their collective foot down, what the hell are most of these players going to do? Get paid hella jack to teach sports or coach little league? Think the Japanese leagues pay this much?

What happens if two people have escalator clauses guaranteeing they’re the highest paid player in baseball?
