Sorry, but Sean Elliot’s “Memorial Day Miracle” is, to this day, my defining moment of miracle shots. The Blazers probably would have won that series if not for that shot. The look of the Blazers coming off the floor after that dagger is something that I will cherish forever. The fact that it propels the Spurs to their fist World Championship is even more reason to put that puppy in the parthenon. Also, the fact that Sean knew he was playing with a career ending kidney disorder had to make it doubly sweet.
UM, your link goes to a CNN page with dozens of videos.
Should only count if he calls “Glass!”, IMO.
My link, in my browser, as tested on three different computers now, goes to a page that has dozens of videos, but LOADS the one in question.
Didn’t look like he threw it that hard, did he?
There is a couples resort my wife and I go to now and then that has an indoor basketball court. One of their planned activities is a foul-shooting contest, and at the end of it, they have everyone take one final foul shot. If you make that final shot, you win a free night’s stay at the resort. Only thing is, for that final shot you’re standing at the foul line, but shooting for the opposite basket.
In a half-dozen trips there, we’ve only seen two people make the winning shot. A husband and wife, one right after the other.
What was the other team thinking? There was only about 1 second left, but all of their players (except the free throw shooter) were down by their own basket, even though there was no time for the other team to dribble down the court where they could play defense. They should have been down at the other end: even if they’re too afraid of a foul to contest the rebound, they can still stand and hold their arms straight up while the guy takes his Hail Mary.
If he’d made the shot, I’d assume the team who made the shot would have taken a time out. They then would inbound it - likely long distance to a close shooter.
Not the greatest defensive play, but I wouldn’t fault the coach.
