I have mentioned here in MPSIMS that I made a donation to “Feeding America” in the amount of my stimulus check…which bu the way, has yet to be received. The Trump Squad has probably made note of all my disparaging remarks, and made sure my stimulus check was “lost in the mail,” or “the dog ate it.”
I’m spending my Sunday AM watching the LA Pride celebrate 50 years, and Shangela, a drag queen, made an appeal for “Feed the Queens.”
I love drag queens, I adore RuPaul, hey, they gotta eat too! So I made a donation!
I’m one of the potential COVID throwaway. I’m old, retired, and my body is filled up with “pre-existing conditions.” According to some, I’m a drain on society.
I’m not independently wealthy.
BUT…I was employed throughout my productive years. I contributed to my retirement, and I also watched Social Security take a hefty bite out of my paycheck every month. Yes, I have “government” checks deposited now that I’m retired, but BY GOD, it’s my money!
I pay my mortgage and my bills, I make sure everybody is well-fed, and I’ve tried to step up during the Coronavirus pandemic and help.
No no no no!
Sigh!
You are not! as Die Capacitrix noted, a “throwaway” of -any- sort.
The world would have, less, in it without you.
I tell you three times, you are a font of invaluable experience and wisdom and funny humor and social defiance that I find appealing.
Sister, you are absolutely one of my favorites (not THE fave, mind you, but one ‘of’ ). I kid.
You are never throwaway.
I know us sicklies feel that way some times. But we’re not.
I, like you have much more to give to the world. At least through our grandkids. If nothing else, that’s an important pursuit.
We love you ~VOW, never change.
You do ~VOW, better than any one else.
You tell 'em, sistah! Ignorance seems to have reached pandemic proportions. Thanks for setting people straight.
(P.S. The money we put into social security all those years went towards retirees’ social security, not our own, but I feel good about that. Don’t you?)
