Underrated beauties

When I was younger, I would watch It’s a Living (and later Fantasy Island… post-Tattoo) for the absolutely delicious Wendy Schaal

Now she’s Francine on American Dad but it’s animated so only get to hear her voice. Her voice is NOT what I am after.

I’ll be in my bunk.

The way she’s dressing lately, she could bust out any time now. (There’s footage out there of her running in (just barely) this dress.)

I say this as a straight woman: those are some lovely breasts. Ah, youth!

I did not know Rosamund Pike before I saw her in Barney’s Version. Talk about underreated beauty.

She was a Bond girl/villain, too - either way, I agree with your post.

Berry stabbed Pike through the chest in Die Another Day. She must have known this thread was coming.

Ooh, I used to have a big crush on her. Aside from her numerous TV show guest spots, I also remember her from the movies Innerspace and The Burbs.

Laura Fraser. Was very good in the BBC programme “Conviction”, which was excellent and also had a great degree of tasteful nudity on her part.

I totally agree…I watched both of the “Elizabeth” films just so I could spend a couple hours staring at her.

Is Alyson Hannigan generally considered a beauty? She’s certainly good looking, but, for reasons I’ve tried to quantify but can’t, she just looks a little goofy.

Me too. And the love interest’s handmaid was lovelier than both. But I don’t think anyone who appears in movies can be considered an underrated beauty since they are clearly good looking enough to be in movies!

My wife is an underrated beauty IMO. Every time there is a “most beautiful women in the world” contest she only gets one vote and she has never even been nominated for People magazine’s “sexiest women alive.” Its all politics I tell ya.

What those pictures don’t show is some awesome legs.

I remember her from Ronin. I don’t think anyone underrates her beauty. She’s just not that well known of an actress.

She’s cute and funny and likeable (and on TV/film) and that makes her appear more attractive. But IRL, she would be much like she is in the later American Pie films or How I Met Your Mother. Your buddy’s cute wife/girlfriend, not the girl every dude wants to get with. In technical terms, she’s like a “6”.

It’s hard to tell on TV//film though. Remember this is a world where Janine Garafollo was Uma Thurman’s “ugly” friend. Although IIRC, I think it ultimately had more to do with her lack of self esteem and ugly personality.

I first became aware of her on a TV series she starred in the 1980s called “Leg Work” (get it–a detective with dynamite legs?), and admired right until I became of her frightening anti-abortion political activism.

I remember that show! I just watched it because of Margaret’s legs. And the rest of her, of course…

Same. I also thought she was the more interesting character.

If I were Mal, I would have let Inara keep the shuttle and hooked up with Kaylee in a heartbeat.

If you haven’t, you should see The Life Aquatic. She was pregnant at the time, and she is absolutely, breathtakingly radiant in that movie.

The audience over here in the UK - and when I say “the audience” I mean me, and a couple of my friends who watched the show - assumed that she was an American actress putting on a really bad imitation of how The Beatles must have sounded to US ears. Because she wasn’t famous in the UK, see. We didn’t know she was one of us. We thought she was one of them.

Now, according to Google she’d already been in the Benny Hill show - in her bra, thank you Google - but by the 1990s Benny Hill was a distant, never-repeated memory in Britain, remembered only because he seemed to be inexplicably popular in the United States. I mean, you could have gone for Kenny Everett, he had cachet, an edge, and it would have been nice to have seen The Kenny Everett Video Show on Youtube, but noooh, you had to pick Benny bloody Hill.

Absolutely.
