Underrated beauties

Independence Day was on AMC the other day so I stopped to watch about half an hour of it. As I watched I was reminded of how beautiful Margaret Colin was back then. She played Jeff Goldblum’s ex-wife (also presidential aide). Here are some pictures:

I admit she does not look her best in those but I think that is because she looks better moving and talking than in any still picture. Anyway I thought it would be interesting to talk about women who aren’t famously beautiful the way Halle Berry is but still are quite lovely.

Have fun!

When I first saw Independence Day, I remembered her from one of the soap operas my mom used to watch when I was a kid. I always did think she was very pretty.

I was excited to see Emily Mortimeron Sorkin’s new news show.

I’ve always found her to be stunning. And that accent is awesome.

Just saw some stills from Mirror, Mirror the other day and Lily Collins is striking and I haven’t heard a word about her. Phil Collins’ daughter, go figure.

I have mentioned it before, but I have long held that the two lead actresses from TV’s Fraiser, Jane Leeves (Daphne) and Peri Gilpin (Roz), were two of most attractive women on all of television, but neither one was ever much heralded as a great beauty by the press.

I never got why both women weren’t more acclaimed for their looks, 'cause to my eyes both are absolutely stone-cold STUNNERS.

I understand that Jane Leeves is now on a new sit-com, but don’t know how she looks these days, but I am guessing she is still lovely…

Which one was the one with the British accent? Because I remember her being pretty much universally recognized as hot.

I couldn’t have been the only one to think that the female armorer in A Knight’s Tale was far lovelier than the love interest.

I was in utter disbelief that she didn’t end up being The Love Interest. I kept waiting for the twist that never came!

Natascha McElhone (Californication, The Truman Show) makes me weak in the knees.

At the beginning of Goldeneye, Bond is driving his Aston Martin in the hills above Monte Carlo. He’s chatting with his passenger (who we learn was sent by M to evaluate him) when Famke Janssen shows up in a Ferrari and they start racing. I’d have let her go; the redhead riding shotgun has her beat by a country mile.

Leeves was the British one. (And still is, really.) She also appeared in some Seinfeld episodes.

Apparently, in her role as Daphne, she affected a British accent different from her native one. I have no idea why.

Although born in Ilford Essex and brought up in East Grinstead in Sussex, she affects [ a ] completly different accent (Mancunian) from 250 miles away for Frasier.

Back off! She’s mine! Mine I tell you!

She’s mine too! Y’all just keep movin’! That’s right!

:stuck_out_tongue:

Lauren Ambrose (from Six Feet Under).

Cate Blanchette has classic beauty, to me.

Oh, yeah.

Doon Mackichan

Kate Jackson of “Charlie’s Angels” fame is the first person to come to my mind.

I always thought that she was prettier than Farrah, who got most of the attention.
(Of course, Kate always made a point of not dressing in skimpy clothing, unlike the other Angels.)

Poor Jane Leeves. Second-best looking woman on Frasier - now she’s the second-best looking woman on Hot In Cleveland.

I was in lust with Jennifer Lawrence after watching Winter’s Bone. She’ll probably be a breakout beauty after The Hunger Games.

So, you have a thing for Betty White, too? Ha!
