Is this a school or a scam? Does anyone have first-hand experience? I’m thinking about getting a degree I want through this place but it’s a net-based school and I have zero experience with those. I’m worried about wasting several years and a hell of a lot of money.
It is not a scam. From an employers point of view, I prefer people with degrees from traditional colleges. Most of them have worked out better. From an employees point of view, they can be the only alternative.
The problem with technical colleges is that you only take directly relevant courses. Engineers taking liberal arts, and artists taking science is a good thing.
Does U of Phoenix have any traditional “bricks and mortar” campuses, or are they entirely online?
I used to work for Baker College, which is located in Michigan. Baker has a number of bricks and mortar campuses, but also a large and growing online component. I believe they are in the same general genre of college as Phoenix…very focused on practical career training and much less on “ivory tower” type academics. I believe they even use the term “career college” for institutions like Phoenix and Baker.
