Hi!
I’m hoping you could help me with this little annoying problem I’m having, ok so my internet has always been provided by BT (UK) …(obviously…) it has been for the past two years, in November the internet was cut off, we still had phone line so I installed a free 30 day trial of Orange broadband, (they were giving out the cd with this on instore so lots of people got this) I tried it because…free internet!
Everything fine, of course it said Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by Orange and the trial ended. No problem. Uninstalled all things Orange.
Just last week we were able to pay BT bill so the internet was back on for real, as opposed to that stupid fake internet, went through the setup process and everything was confirmed with BT but it still says Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by Orange and it has the Orange logo swirling around on the upper right hand screen instead of the BT logo swirling around.
Have Orange branded themselves onto my computer? And I want it to say provided by BT dammit. As I said I did uninstall it, so how else an I get rid of it?
Can you help?
thank you for reading…
First, do a search for all things “Orange” and any other words that might describe it. Delete them all, but keep them in your Recycle Bin for a few days to be sure everything still is working OK, then empty it.
Next, but only if you first back up the Registry, and are comfortable messing with it, you can search that for any Orange listings and delete them too.
Probably should create an extra Windows Restore Point before even doing the first search just to be sure.
Sounds like you have an older version of IE installed, as the current version, IE 7, has no swirly thing. Try going to Windows Update and install IE 7.
If you just want to ditch the “Provided by Orange” title, Microsoft provides instructions
And, to get rid of a spinning orange and see the original logo, instructions are here.
Ah thanks gotpasswords
and co.
KlondikeGeoff I already deleted all things Orange and when I search for them it just comes up with what’s already in the recycle bin. I’m not too confident messing around with the registry without having a step by step guide on what I’m doing.
With the internet explorer being old I never thought of that, I might give it a go though some peoples opinions are it’s not that good and they wish they hadn’t changed it.
